New Delhi: The political crisis in Pakistan seems to be deepening amidst fresh signs that Prime Minister Imran Khan and the country's powerful army are no longer seeing eye to eye.

Pakistan Army Chief General Qamar Bajwa, a long-time talker during the Islamabad security talks, made a derogatory remark with the prime minister when he spoke about Islamabad's ties with Washington and the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

Gen Bajwa said Pakistan shares a long history of excellent and strategic relations with the US, which is its largest export market. "We want to broaden our relationship ... without affecting our relationship with each other," he said.
The comments come on the heels of Sunday's no-confidence vote against Khan notable as PM Khan has "almost" accused the US of plotting to harass him.
As a slip of the tongue, Khan on Thursday named the US as the country behind a "threat letter" that allegedly showed "evidence" of a foreign conspiracy to oust his government. Khan later examined himself and said he did not mean America but a "foreign country he could not name." But for America the confusion was clear enough.
