Hello Steem Verse,
@metzli here, posting from the Marlians site, the only tribe to give us our own space and tag ulog-mama. If you are a mama on the Steemverse and not a part of the steemitmamas, please make sure to use it. Your post will be read by me, @metzli, and you will get a big fat invitation and welcome to the steemitmamas world.
Last week @alimamastory got us started on "Humor Me Mama" and shared a funny story about how one of her kids' toys had her thinking there was a huge something in her house.
We laughed.
This week we will be laughing at ... ME.
About a month ago I was feeling terrible.
I was sleepy. I had heart palpitations. Any trace of sugar I would ingest would make my hands and feet get swollen.
I started having "the talk" with myself.
"You're 38 Mama. Time to take extra care of yourself."
I started monitoring my blood pressure. I started googling heart palpitations in women. I had myself convinced that I was in the beginning stages of heart disease.
"Your Mom had diabetes, its time for you to get checked." I told myself.
I started turning away mango's and pineapple, I made sure to drink lots of water, and I started giving myself foot massages, (because you, know diabetic neuropathy).
Then. My period was gone.
"All women start menopause at different ages, it's ok that its happening to you now" I told myself, as I cheered myself on and got ready for the change.
This went on for a few weeks, each symptom scaring me more. Each symptom, having me convinced that my life was not going to be long like my grandparents, who are each in their late 80's still exercising, and driving, and taking care of themselves. Each still helping their families out financially, and each helping their neighbors make it to Dr. Appointments and such.
And then...
My breasts stopped fitting in my bra.
I briefly thought about googling breast cancer.
And then bough a pregnancy test instead.
Turns out this Mama is not a a menopausal diabetic, who is having heart problems.
She is simply #38andpregnant and completely healthy according to her Dr. (Thank God)
So Mamas, when was the last time you thought something so silly you just had to laugh at yourself?
Please, share with us in the comments, of even better, write a post and let us know about it.
We are actively curating from our steemitmamas account and would love to read and upvote your stories.
I have been there! The baby that surprised me at nearly 40 will turn 18 soon. Enjoy unexpected blessings.
