It is very difficult for me to have to travel every two weeks to Barquisimeto, not because of the distance or because it is a city that I do not like, on the contrary, I love it; This trip is so difficult for me because every two weeks I have to leave my son in his home, it is a quite melancholy trip for me.
This weekend, it was time to make the little-expected trip. Almost 3 hours of road, laughter and music with my son and my wife to appease our emotions.
When the entrance approaches everyone in the car we concentrate in silence to look forward where we are welcomed by nothing less than The Mantle of Mary Our Divine Shepherdess, monument to the Virgin Mary in Barquisimeto.
We had not been able to go to meet her, because it was always something late but this time if we were on time!
Since we arrived we breathe an indescribable peace, in its majesty there is also simplicity; It is perfectly beautiful what can be appreciated.
ROUTE TO THE MONUMENT
This monument is the icon of the city of Baquisimeto, La Divina Pastora as all Larenses and other Venezuelans we call it is the Patron of the city.
It is one of the highest in the world, with a height of 62 meters.
After knowing how high it is we decided to start the tour.
This is the entrance, with an imposing door alluding to the times of Christ. It is made of iron without any cover or glaze, measuring more than 9 meters high and 3 wide.
When entering the guides in charge of the tour, they tell us a little about the history of the creation of the monument and prepare us telling us that we will climb 296 steps until we reach the highest point of our virgin.
To go up!
We have a more complete vision of the image of our virgin, the guide tells us that we have advanced half the way and tells us about the creators of this great monument: The architect Jorge Eliécer Rodríguez Coronado, Carlos Raúl Villanueva, José Alfredo Morón, Ángel Delgado and a large number of collaborators, all Venezuelans and devotees of our virgin
And so we move to the last mezzanine where we see the image of La Divina Pastora completely, here we stop to observe and reflect to continue to the highest part of the monument.
We are at the top of the monument to close this visit with a flourish enjoying a magnificent 360 ° view of the city of Barquisimeto.
####What began as a melancholic journey ended up being a beautiful journey full of peace, reflection and learning. Gracias Virgencita
