Still the same as the previous post about carrion flowers, this time I am @arnoldmark will share the differences and the types of flowers that grow in the Bengkulu area, let's discuss them one by one.
- Rafflesia arnoldi, this flower is very popular, very much found in the forests of Bengkulu, most often blooms in the Taba Penanjung Kab forest area. Bengkulu Tengah, Protected Forest Bukit Daun Kepahiang, Forest District. Seluma, Padang Guci Forest Kab. Kaur, and in the Kab. Forest area North Bengkulu. This type is very well known by the people of Indonesia. This flower was discovered by Sir Stamford Raffles and Dr. Joseph Arnold in 1818 in Lubuk Tapi, Pulo Lebar Village, Pino Raya District, South Bengkulu Regency. Rafflesia arnoldi is the largest type in the world with a diameter of 70-110 cm. This type is also dubbed as a giant patma and received the title as a national rare puspa through Presidential Decree number 4 in 1993.
- Rafflesia gadutensis Meijer. This type can be found on the west side of the Bukit Barisan mountains precisely in Mukomuko Regency, and North Bengkulu Regency, with a diameter of 40-60 cm. Gadutensis comes from the word ulu gadut which is the name of a hill on the border of West Sumatra Province and Bengkulu. This type is described by Meijer 1984. This flower habitat can be found in the Boven Lais Palak Siring Kemumu and Kuro Tidur forest areas of North Bengkulu Regency.
- Rafflesia hasselti Suringar, is the most beautiful type of rafflesia. This type is described by Suringar 1897. This Rafflesia has a pattern of spots and colors on the strands of flowers, by local people this type is often called red-white fungus, or tiger fungus (Zuhud et al, 1998). This type has a diameter of 35-70 cm. This type in Bengkulu can be found on the border between Ketenong II, Lebong Regency, Bengkulu Province.
- Rafflesia bengkuluensis (Agus Susatya, Arianto and Mat-salleh 2005). This type carries the name Bengkulu to honor Bengkulu as the first time this type is described. This is a new type from Indonesia with a diameter of 50-55 cm. It has a limited geographical distribution in the Talang Tais valley or the Tais watershed area, Seluma Regency, located in the northwest of Bukit Barisan National Park (TNBBS) and Padang Guci forest Kab.
