I really do believe that violence begets violence so I try to steer away from the violence if I can, but if need be I can protect myself and others. Think Buddhist monks. The reason that they studied Kung Fu was to protect themselves from robbery and harm. My sons too have been taught from a young age to protect themselves. Now my 5-year old granddaughter is learning too. I wanted so badly to step into a fray but in this case, discretion was the better part of valour.
