My #Ulog 012: Training kids to live life in the province

in ulog •  7 years ago

Kids living in the city have more exposure to these different groups in the public as well as in school which develop their confidence in interacting with people of different culture and beliefs.They are open-minded and exposed on technological advancement. This is how they differ compared to kids living in the province which somehow we consider it an edge factor. Yes it's true it is an edge but that does not mean kids in the province don't have a plus factor compares to kids in the city.

PLUS FACTORS IF KIDS LIVES IN THE PROVINCE

My child grow up in the city. When we are having our vacation in the province, I noticed that she is not exposed on some household chores. We don't have maids in the province. We do all the works from cooking, cleaning, washing and other responsibilities within the house. For them to learn those things, we are giving them assignments and expose them on simple works at home such as;

  • Cleaning the frontyard.

We don't have back and front yard as big as this, so she never experienced cleaning the backyard. Sam is trained only sweeping the living room. They are also taught cleaning in school which somehow helped her learn the proper way of cleaning the house. But if you look at how kids in the province clean the backyard, it seems that they are well-trained compared to my child.

  • Changing curtains in the house.

As mentioned, don't have maids in the house. We do cleaning, cooking and everything in the house. So, my sister and I gave them simple job like this. Our parents trained us to live in a clean house and how to clean it. My mother told us to wake up early in the morning before the sun rise, take early breakfast then begin to clean the house. She also told us that we should finish cleaning the house before 8AM so that we have enough time to rest before lunch time. Clean house allow us to think properly and feel relax.

  • Washing their clothes after bathing.

Every morning, I they are told to bath and wash their clothes. Usually, clothes we wear in the house are lighter and not so dirty so, it is easy for them to wash it.

  • Feeding the chicken.

My mom has a lot of chicken. Every 5PM, they return home to ask for food. So she asked the kids to feed them every afternoon. They like it since they really love animals.

  • Folding their tent.

Our backyard is so wide, they had it cemented to dry the rice grains. Everytime we visit in the province, we usually do camping. They're the one doing the assembly and disassembly.

Of course, other than work and fun, tbey also share and talk about technology and mobile games.

" Teaching them simple works at home is like teaching them to become responsible, independent and prepare their future as a good father or mother to their respective kids. To internalize the value of their training, you have to do it consistently, you have to tell them the reasons behind the way you discipline them."
