Ulog day #01 | The cause of excessive saliva
Saliva (saliva) is secreted by the salivary glands and serves to help the digestive process. This salivary secretion is regulated by the autonomic nervous system.
Excessive salivation production can also be called hypersalivation or sialorrhea. This condition can be a reasonable or dangerous condition.
It is fair to say that this hypersalivation does not interfere with you in talking and doing activities as usual, and not accompanied by other complaints. The cause can be due to pregnancy (in women) or consuming too much food with starch. Some drugs, such as tranquillizers and anti-seizures or mercury poisoning can also lead to excessive saliva production.
However, if the production of saliva is very disturbing to you, then you can check your complaints directly to the doctor. A careful physical examination is necessary to assess the possibility of other causes that require special medical attention, for example:
Infections, such as tonsillopharyngitis (tonsillitis and throat), retrofaringeal abscess, peritonsilar abscess, epiglotitis, parotitis
Inflammation in the oral cavity, for example when experiencing tooth eruption (including wisdom teeth), cavities
Abnormalities of the jaw function, eg due to fractures or dislocations
Side effects of radiation therapy
Nerve disorders, such as rabies, Bell's palsy, hypoglossal nerve palsy, Parkinson's disease, myasthenia gravis, etc.
When viewed from your description, there is the possibility of inflammation of the mouth and throat infection (which is triggered by inflammation in the ear) is the trigger your complaint. However, to be sure, you need to see a doctor directly .. Handling will be given in accordance with the cause of your complaint.
Currently, in order to reduce the production of saliva, you should limit to consume some foods, such as spicy food and bersantan so as not to trigger excessive saliva production. Keep your mouth always clean, that is by routinely brushing and rinsing with antiseptic mouthwash. Do not over-stress and drink more.
I hope this helps
