I have been looking up the journals and newspapers for updates on the casualties and possible survivals of the Lagos tanker explosion that happened days ago. My heart still arches like hell. Here are some stories;
1. So Jonah wakes up in the morning, leaves home. Tells his loved ones that he is leaving for work and never returns home. They are still looking for his body to at least bury him as his body had been burnt beyond recognition.
2. So Peter closes from work and rushes down to pick his kids from school. His wife calls him all day till this morning he is still not reachable. Father and kids burnt beyond recognition. The wife is now a widow and has no child in a twinkle of an eye. Just like that.
3. A young school leaver -- Johnson-- is posted to Lagos to serve his country. He had just spoken to his parents after the close of work. He works in a multinational corperation and hopes to get retained after youth service. He hoped to get a bigger oil magnet than 'Otedola'. He even tells his friends to call him "Otedola with the money". You see that dream, that promising visionary went up in flames on the Otedola Bridge. Writing this still gives me the chills infact.
4. Mama Tope who sells 'gbegiri' and 'amala' just to see her children through school since papa Tope died 10years ago. Tope had just gotten admission into the university and is preparing for his second semester exam. His 15 years old younger sister calls Tope while in class this morning that mummy has not come back since yesterday and her number isn't going through. Mama Tope got burnt in that inferno. How will Tope --now an orphan-- finish school, get a job and take care of his siblings?
I am still devastated and sorrowful. All Nigerians are sorrowful about the incident. My unhappiness knows no bounds. That fatal accident is still disturbing mind mind. In my mind's eye, I imagine myself surrounded with fire. God forbide! Yeah. But the victims of that accident would have said thesame thing the day before. The worst thing is the accident would have been avoided if things were right in my country. Oh lord! My country has been ruined by bad leaders. Leaders without vision, cruel and uncivilised. How can a Tanker carrying that large quantity of petrol and moving on thesame roads with motor commuters?
A million dollar question that I demand our government to give an answer to. People are dieing in an alarming rate. The world can you hear us? Steemit?
How do we survive in this jungle?
I don't think I can recover from this..
So sad.... It's well.....

Yeah. So sad. What's more sad is the people left behind to face the trauma, wether emotionally or otherwise. @gloxypearl
