#ulog (25) The Low-end Ulogging Life -- July 9, 2018

The events for Monday's ulog actually began on Sunday, just past 7:30 pm local time, when my Internet suddenly got crippled. Basically I couldn't get online to 99.99% of websites, and the 0.01% that could be reached, loaded very slowly.

As Monday morning came and went, the Internet problem persisted, so I put in a call to the phone company. The technical support representative was polite and professional, but unfortunately was of little help. The best explanation they could provide me was there was a sudden boost of congestion since Sunday night, and that the phone company had technicians looking into it but there was no ETA on when normal Internet service would be restored.

Shit.

That meant no Steemit, no trivia, no news, nothing to do with the Internet for the whole day. So I got some laundry done and I looked through my hard drive for old games that could be played offline. I found a couple and ended up spending most of my gaming time on this oldie from Japan, whose title roughly translates to "Pachinko Wars". As the name implies, it's a pachinko game and there's a military theme built into its storyline.

The biggest portion of my day was spent dealing with bouts of hiccups. Hiccups started breaking out for no reason during the afternoon, and episodes would last for 30-45 minutes at a time before I could get relief. I ended up having to deal with 6 of these hiccup episodes before I could get to bed for the night. I've never had a day like this before in my life, and shit, it was not fun at all.

In between two of those hiccup episodes I managed to fit a workout in, so at least I did get to do some exercise as I had planned. And as for the Internet outage, the phone company had nothing to announce until I called in to technical support Tuesday (today) around 11:30 am. That's when the company finally admitted there was a wider Internet outage affecting a lot of people. My Internet was back to normal around 12:30 pm, but at that point I was already getting prepared to head out to the casino.

And that's how 41 hours of boredom and misery (including all of my Monday) went. I have a crapload of stuff to catch up with on Steemit now.
