ULog#13: More Reflections

in ulog •  6 years ago

I feel as if I turned my head and it's September all of the sudden. Time flew by quickly this year. Many of my colleagues also commented the same. I'm not sure if it's because of how busy life has been for everyone or there's some unexplained temporal anomaly.

For one thing, I managed to capture a sunset around this time of the year. It's still not the same as the position I marveled at this one time driving to work, but this is a close second.

It feels melancholic. Actually, I think I've felt that way since the great fallout of 2016. I have tried to move on with an open mind, but I could still feel the chains weighing down on my heart. If I were to describe myself right now, it would probably be something along the lines of a "contractor" from Darker Than Black, except I can put up a façade as needed for different occasions.

Am I just not grateful with what I still have? Or am I still bitter with what happened? Sometimes, I get replies such as this one from @resuscitate:

Well, he is not wrong.

One thing that has always bothered me when voicing my complaints about setbacks in life has always been the notion of "well, it could be worse" or "look at the bright side, (insert comparison to a dire situation)". I get that. My life is totally the life of a dream to someone, say, from North Korea. However, is that what I always come back to? To tell myself that at least it's better than the next guy?

Perhaps I do need a shift in my attitude? Despite pitfalls of my situation, I live an okay lifestyle. I still make significantly more than the average household income in the US. My health has not failed. I am being productive in life. I am not yet as Job, whose friends did accuse him.

In fact, my struggles are nothing compared to some of the other Steemians who are from the US. Just ask @sircork or @iamstan, they probably think I'm a wimp at times. Hell, my uncle is probably having a harder time in Texas dealing with his own issues right now.

Anyhow, these are just random scribbles. I'll leave you with this screenshot:

Much palindrome. Such symmetry!

We will keep in touch.

Cheers!

There is always someone out there who tries to squash your feelings! It annoys me that people dismiss our right to feel a certain way. It 's like reprimanding us for not living on cloud 9 all the time. SHOUT IT FROM THE ROOFTOPS! (especially if you have a crap internet connection hehe ;) ) Saying that, it doesn't hurt now and then to take stock of what we DO have and what we should be grateful for. But if you are paying for super fast unlimited fiber optic broadband, you had blooming well better get it! ;)

Sometimes, we are like to complain a little bit. In my saltiness, I do forget who I am talking to, hence the response I get you saw in the screenshots.

To be content... a requirement for us who desire to serve Him.

I could tell you many things but nothing matters when you feel the way you do.

My best wisdom would be to say, we all struggle with the pains of living in this shell called the human body.
The whole earth groans in travail as a woman who is about to give birth.

Romans 8: 22 For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. 23 And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.

You are not alone, even in the midst of great triumph is tragedy inserted. One man's loss is another’s great gain.

For me there are two things that help me overcome my sorrow when "I can not see the forest for the trees."
I try to remember when I had other struggles and how I have overcome them.

But even better than that. I remember that to really know joy, I must have known sorrow. Through great sorrow comes great joy! Had I never suffered I would never be able to appreciate what I enjoy today.

Let me end with this.

Hebrews 5: 8 Though He were a Son, yet learned He obedience by the things which He suffered; 9 And being made perfect, He became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him; 10 Called of God an high priest after the order of Melchisedec.

This is pretty deep and not many even have a clue who this Melchisedec was. You can find out if you so desire.

Knowing where I'm from, I think you should know. I'm willing to bet @viking-ventures, @josephsavage, and @jarvie know as well. ;)

I'm still pretty new in our Church and sometimes feel that I have not yet been initiated into all the "open secrets" out there - everyone assumes you know, so you don't find out unless you know the questions to ask. Yet, I haven't read Hebrews for a long time - so even with my limited understanding, I really appreciate reading that.

It's okay. That's a name you will hear for a long time.

I try to explain to people, "I broke my arm." "oh yeah, well i broke both my legs" "my arm still hurts anyway, mofo"

I feel you and ponder the same questions.

And that my friend, is the human condition.

Sometimes, I just want to complain about it. Thanks man.

Other's pain will always be greater than ours and we will only "win" in this conversational travesty when we encounter people who are good listeners. You might like this video on conversation - one of the points addresses your essay pretty spot on.

That was a good watch. Thanks for that.

palindromes are awesome - especially when least expected!

Great photo - but sad when you think of why it's so beautiful.

Unexpected palindromes were unexpected.

We should always be grateful for where we are presently because many people are wishing to be in our shoes. Great post

I suppose, but that doesn't resolve my issues.
