Ulog #4 Camping Trip Part 2

As we travelled more into the woods, the trees got thicker and the path got smaller till we were no longer able to follow it.

I stopped to see if there was another path to take, perhaps through a bit of trees but nothing. This was the perfect opportunity for Piper (our rottie mix puppy) to snatch Frankie's stuffy right from her arms and take off with it down the hill and plop herself down on the ground waiting for us at the other end.

Ok so the image is blurry, I apologize for that but you can still see.

We had to chase her a bit and with the help of Moe (our shaggy old man) she dropped it. She is a good girl really. Just likes to tease Frankie.

See, safe and sound :)

We headed back, through the trees, back to the ruins and through the tall forest of ferns.

And then all of a sudden, something strong and brown and green got a hold of Frankie. She stumbled on to the ground. The exhaustion from walking the trails and the fear of the forest held her back, keeping her too weak to be able to get back up. She yelled to me "MAMA!", I looked back. Seeing panic in her water filled eyes as she called for me again, reaching out for me to grab her. I ran to her only a few feet away from me, I grabbed her hand and wrapped my other arm around her waist to pick her up. I took a few steps back, holding her tightly in my arms, to see what caused her fall.

Oh Frankie, how many times must I remind you to lift your feet when walking in the bush. It was just a branch.

When we got back, Danny got the other 2 kids set up for fishing. Hoping to catch something for supper, Emma had already put her line in the water and was patiently waiting, looking at the bobber.

As soon as you know it, she yelled out "I got a fish! I got a fish!" before Aaden got his line in the water. The fight was real. She pulled to the right, she pulled to the left, she pulled back one side to the next and reeled it in like a pro. Emma has caught her very first fish at 5 years old.

She caught an itty bitty baby perch. Not big enough to keep.

Time went by, the sun was settling down and I got to relax, watching father and son casting their lines, talking about fish, spending wonderful time together.

Piper was getting a bit excited there :p

Emma and Frankie were enjoying a juice box in the screen tent. As I turned to see how Frankie was doing, she wasn't moving. I approached her to make sure she was ok. Sure enough, she was snuggled up tight, dozing away into sleepy land on the chair.

I move away, turn again and there was the next little one that dozed off on the ground.

Thus starts the beginning of our first night of camping.

I love the greens and your furry babies seem to happy to be enjoying outdoors, looks also you had a great time as a family, I confess I struggle a bit with the fish cos I'm vegetarian but I understand it is a bonding experience for you. Glad you enjoyed Nature. Summer is insanely hot here and green keeps me focused and healing. Blessings

I'd rather put the fish back in the water myself. But the family does enjoy it. It is the better of all meats I think. I'm not a fan though. I want to go back there. I am ready for another few days in the forest. But cake orders have come in so I can't right now. Hoping I can soon :D

Love that you get so much healing in nature. We all do but don't do it enough.

I grew up in Nature, then moved to a big city, full of chance and opportunity but I withered, I need my green, hug a tree, rescue bees and spiders, smell a flower, swim in the ponds, guess I'm kind of quiet and enjoy the simple things. Forever grateful to my healing Mother.

Cities are full of destructive things, beings. It is not a nice place. I will never go back to living in a city, ever!

I remember loving camping when I was younger, was always exciting whether it was in a tent or going to a cabin to stay with the family. But these days I love my technology and getting things done too much and don't go camping. Looks like a nice trip for your family though. :)

That's why it is so good to do camping. It gives us the chance to take a break even if it seems we don't need one. Once we get out there, we realize the benefits. xx

It looks like you guys are having a really great time! We plan on doing some camping when it cools off a bit more around here.

Camping is awesome! I enjoy wild camping as some would call it. You wouldn't me in a campground with people stuck close on each side. I have more land at home then I would in those things lol.
With the trips you are taking, in the water, in the mountains, I would love to see where you go camping.

I'll definitely take the gopro the next trip we go on. It won't be as primitive or rugged as yours. I am a bit of a diva when it comes to bathrooms and showers! lol

I understand that. I had bought a solar heated showring thing to fix that problem :p Lots of things you can find to make the camping experience not so... gross lol

What an amazing time you had there. Camping, fishing, out on an adventure the call of the wild. The kids looks like they had so much fun. I have been dying to go out fishing but having a hard time looking for a spot here. I hope you caught a lot of fish.

Just wonderful! It was really great. We didn't catch many fish as it seemed like our spot was full of baby fish. Nothing big enough to keep.

Awesome stuff!! I love camping so much. Being out there with nature. Congrats to Emma on her first fish!! That's awesome. She'll be starring in Wicked Tuna before you know it! lol.

HAHA! I can see that happening too. She's a strong little one and does surprise me at times. She would be good against tuna :P

Aww, I love nature walks and camping too. This year we went on our first glamping trip with a few families and we hope to go on a proper glamping trip with our brand new tent! There is just something being out in nature, refreshes you and best for the kiddos! Thanks for sharing. You little puppy soooo cute!

Thank you ^_^ Nature heals in so many ways. The air we breathe is fresher, the calmness, the quietness, being away from busy life, faces are not stuck on screens. It is always an awesome experience :)

congrats on the fish caught! I remember going camping as a kid and how much fun that was, so I'm sure your kids will treasure this moment as well. Loved seeing the back to back pics of the kid and puppy knocked out lol

Hehe, it was great moments to cherish for sure

OMGosh!!! I just love the fishing pictures!!
Such great memories. I can remember when my kids were all small and we'd go fishing to some state parks or family orientated campgrounds- one had a catch and release pond and I am squeamish about worms.. I had my oldest daughter- who was four at the time.. bait my hook! Yeah.. sad, huh?

Im right there with you. I don't like the worms either. Our worms were massive so my husband was pulling them on each side to rip them in half. So when it came where I had to do it because my husband was lying down... oh my god. I only had a pair of needle nose pliers and I was telling my son to pull on one end lol. He couldn't do it. He grabbed a stick hoping he could somehow pull it with that but it didn't work either lol. I found a broken bottle not far on the ground so I cut it using that. But then when I had to put the worm on the hook it was spewing internal ... stuff... on the cut end. Oh it was nasty!
I told my husband that was the last time and if they are all too big, rip them all apart so I don't have to. Never again!

First day and it seems you guys are already having all kinds of experiences. Seems fun. :3

Oh yes! lot's to explore when in nature. Was tons of fun.

I always loved camping! But with the birth of my daughter, we postponed such trips. I'm afraid to drive my daughter to the forest and wait for her to grow up at least 5 years))

I completely understand that. When mine were just babies I couldn't figure out how to make it work right. I couldn't see how anyone would be able to have great time as babies need so much. But today I see how it could have worked. A little late but hey they remember what happens more today than when they were babies right :p
