Here's my second stab at a ulog. Same morning procedure as previously, made coffee. Answered some random messages on all the chats. Talked to neighbors this morning. Discussed were the infestation of rabbits/raccoons/groundhogs in the area and whether the store down the street will go out of business. Speculation over who will shoot which rodent first are on the rise between today and the last time this topic was discussed, which was last night. I respectfully declined to execute any of them myself, mainly due to lack of giving a shit.
To give you a bit of a background into this infestation matter: a lone raccoon was spotted in the neighborhood a few years ago and a meeting of neighbors with nothing better to do was held. It followed the meeting about the possible spotting of a rat which was likely a poorly-tailed squirrel. The raccoon resurfaced last year and again earlier this year on my deck. His hobby was shitting on the step. He was evicted with standard anti-raccoon trolling procedures. At the same time, probably due to the decline of cat lady and thus cat population, the rabbits multiplied. I have a neighbor who was helping me out with some renos so I gave him my live trap. This was a known problem for a while.
Fast forward to this week when I was informed by another neighbor that not only is the rabbit population out of control but the groundhogs have moved in. Those fuckers ate various flowers. The only live trap on the street is now in the hands of the provisioned neighbor but it's unavailable. You see, his wife likes the groundhogs. So no trap. The groundhog infestation is slowly spreading. I'm across the street from it and them eating whatever in my yard is of no concern to me. Therefore the request of me to battle the groundhogs has been denied.
So last night I had words with the neighbor whose property just got overrun. Informed him that the raccoons are back and he was a she and nesting in my deck. Furry little things about the size of a Chihuahua. Plus that I'm not shooting or trapping them and will restart harassment once they're big enough to be evicted. Told the neighbor that they're probably coming his way since that side of the street has no dogs. He's buying a pellet gun now. He's got groundhogs on one the right flank and raccoons coming at him front and center. The rabbits are already there. This is some Risk shit right here.
Not much else going on today. Need to finish clipping the hedges and write a witness update which pretty much makes me seem like a colossal jackass since the projects are meant to make use of the witness' rewards, not generate said rewards. Will see if this gets done. Considering hammering out that Welcome page final pull request instead. Probably a better idea.
