Building Communities
Dear Uloggers and Stemians,
Today, I had decided to take the day off from Steeming and do something else, but I got a nice surprise in the afternoon that compelled me to write this.
I went to the market early in the morning to get my mother some greens for a fish soup we were going to prepare and some fruits. After that, I remembered that I had agreed to participate of a cleaning activity on my street. We had already done this a couple of times, and I even wrote a post about it:

Even though only 4 families joined in, including my wife and I, it was a very fruitful day. We cleaned our block (taking advantage of the fact that for the first time in 10 years no sewage water is running down the gutters) like it had not been cleaned in years. It looks neat and we received lots of praising from passers-by.
The best part of today’s activity was that one neighbor who could not participate of the cleaning decided to contribute by preparing a meat soup for the “workers”. I have been living for almost 7 years on this street, this lady lives just 5 houses down and I had never been to her place. It was a delicious soup accompanied with casaba and avocadoes and she was very pleased that her neighborhood looked united and harmonious. We were proud of what we accomplished today. For the first time in years we looked like a community. We had members of at least 4 families eating at the same table. They are already making plans for another gathering, not to clean this time, but just to meet, eat, drink, and have fun, like people did 2 decades ago.
When we got home at about 3 PM and checked my Steemit account and found out that I had reached 500 SPs! And I was already a 60. That felt really good. Despite the bear market, despite all the limitations that we have over here, the communities that have welcomed me in this platform had made me believe that we can achieve great things when we put our minds and talents to it, and that there are good things ahead of us on Steemit and Steem will recover from this crisis.
I feel very grateful today and I have to specially thank musing.io because thanks to them I was able to accelerate my growth, almost tripling my SP in a month.

My next goals: to reach 1000+SP and reputation 70 while continue contributing with posts that people can relate to and find informative, insightful, and interesting.

Henrry, this is a great story and it warms my heart. What makes a family ... or a country, or a blockchain ... is shared adversity and shared fate.
Someday I will visit your country and you can introduce me to your neighbors. I think I have a bit of Venezuelan in my blood.
Congratulations on passing these significant milestones. Alas, I am following in your wake, about to hit 56. But watch your back, brother ... I'm competitive. :-)

Just go there. I thought you might have known already about that site. I never check all the answers or quetions, so I don't know who else is there unless I run into a post by pure chance. You can check it from my comments in Steemit, they show a "View this answer on Musing.io" sign, just click and see what's in there.
It is my greatest wish that my country can be decent again, so that I can proudly invite friends. You have no idea how many people i discouraged from visiting, even while I was in the States (2001-2008) and things were not supposed to be that bad.

Gracias. Siempre un gusto tenerte por acá. Cuando entré a esta plataforma me dijeron que era un ganar-ganar. Si yo crecía podía dar más con mis votos y si tú crecías podías darme más con tus votos. Me pareció la filosofía perfecta. Si todos los grupos crecieran de manera harmoniosa, sin querer dañar al otro y todos poner sus SP al servicio de aquellos que le son afines e incluso para ayudar a los nuevos, esto será perfecto.
Se que como en toda empresa humana hay desperfectos y se han reproducido los mismos vicios del mundo "real", pero, como en el mundo real, se vale ser idealista. Yo apuesto por hacer lo que nos debería beneficiar a todos, incluyendo compartir información que pueda beneficiar a otros.
Cada uno verá como la maneja y la usa.

Yes, that is correct, terrifyingly so.
since 2008 when Chavez did the first "reconvertion", 3 zeros were taken from our currency (so, the 100 VEB bill, the highest then turned into 0,10 cents of Bolivar Fuerte, VEF). Inflation escalated and by 2011 we had 50,000 and 100,000 VEF bills. 3 more zeros were removed. That was already a technical devaluation of 1,000,000%
We started having the new currency called bolivar soberano. 5 zeros were taken form the old currency. the 100,000 VEF bill became the 1 VES bill.
At the moment we have 500VES bills.
Today i put on some sport shoes we had bought last year (we kept them in"storage" for the right time). those shoes cost us 380,000.VEF, that would be 3,8 VES.
Do you know how much that pair of shoes cost now?

I'm really glad to hear that you didn't go after all the truth is that I've been sick two weeks now and I'm sorry I've not been really replying your amazing feedacks, you're a gem to this platform and we know it, musing.io has been very great too, even for me really, infact more than nice and I'll tell you to stay despite the market, give the market time, it always recovers my friend, brilliant emotional piece here, and 500 sp? Thank you, @josediccus. Sorry about your sickness (dengue fever, right?). Hope you get better soon, brother. We have a lot of that over here and no treatment available or affordable. Two of my daughters were down with that last month.

Thanks, man. I will. I think that we can do great things on this platform which can impact the real world in many ways. I just hope those who put this together do not disband it out of pure economic self-interest. I think about the many times a sports team wins a championship and the next year they end up last because the owners decided to sell or let go their best players.
