Ulog #046 : Access to A Pure Honey the Easy Way

So much for wanting to have a healthier option than sugar, i have been looking for some honey to buy as before, there were usually loads in the wet market, compared to the commercialised ones in stores. I don't want those as their integrity is questionable, same reason why i don't buy them in Manila.

Few days back, a couple of street vendors were doing house-to-house sales under the sun, my household got me a bottle. The taste was a bit bland and the liquid wasn't that sticky. Trying it on my tea, i needed at least 3 tablespoons, compared with the brown sugar i only use 2 teaspoons. Ok, it's what we got, so that would do I thought.

Amusingly, a family friend brought me a small bottle today, aware of my "need of honey". This bottle was given to him as well by a friend of his, the source from their place up in the mountains.

Not only that but the color itself is deeper compared to what we bought. Obviously, the taste is sweeter and the consistency stickier. The taste is no doubt more superior than the first one, which in everyone's opinion was diluted with water then added with some white sugar. The bottom of the bottle confirmed it as such.

Another neighbour came around and laughingly told us we bought ours at a double price!

I don't know how to differentiate REAL HONEY to fake ones in the market, but since our last bottle was sourced from a community whose livelihood is selling honey, their integrity is at stake here so NO fake honey from Bangued, Northern Philippines.
