Ulog 5 (1).jpg

We had our Cebu Writer’s Guild meet-up last Sunday May 20, 2018. This is the second session and so far I have been learning a lot! Arrived at the meeting place 11:00 am. Saw @morken first. We agreed on having our lunch first at McDonalds. Decided to wait for the rest of the team at Coffee Bean. Finished my presentation about Project Smile. Everyone else arrived. We headed out at @liamnov’s place. And we started our session around 2:00pm.

First to discuss was @morken. He shared to us the basics of the Steemit Platform. Even though I am quite aware how things work, it’s still important to be reminded once in a while for us to be able to teach and deliver well to other people who wished to join as well.

@ybanezkim then taught us about the 4 Different Writing Styles. Come to think of it, this was discussed by my teacher back when I was still in high school.

The 4 types of Writing Styles are:

Expository, Descriptive, Persuasive and Narrative.
Three out of four above I apply on my blogs.

I use Expository writing especially when I write about museums and the artifacts they contain just like my blog here.

Inday Clara travels Solo #7: STEPPING INTO THE PAST OF VIETNAM’S COLORFUL HISTORY

And you can see me applying the Descriptive and Narrative styles on most of my travel blogs.
Inday Clara Travels Solo #15: What to expect when it’s raining in Lao Chai Village, famous for its Rice Paddies in Sapa, Vietnam.

We were also asked to share our thoughts on…

  • Why are you writing?

I am writing to share my travel stories. I was born to travel. Simple as that.

  • Who are your intended audience?

Travellers and Non-Travellers. Hoping to inspire others to step out of the comfort zone and explore the world

After everyone voiced out their thoughts, it was my turn to introduce my project called

The Awesome SMILE Project

This is my first initiative here in Steemit. I am very excited for this project aims to provide needs to the street children here in Cebu, Philippines. It is my way of paying it forward for all the blessings I have received here. I will be posting the progress of the project tonight.

@morken then shared a game plan to help us reaching our goals. Establish our goal first, how much would it cost and the duration of time to work for it through steemit. This game plan made me realize that I should be disciplined in doing the daily task of posting every day.

I am excited for the coming days ahead! I know these sleepless nights will pay off! I am encouraging Cebu based Steemians to come join us. For sure, you will not just gain learnings but you will gain new friends!

Part of my earnings for the following blogs to come will go to the Awesome SMILE project. You can definitely help too. For details, just click the photo below!
