Oktoberfest is the world's largest Volksfest (beer festival and travelling funfair). Held annually in Munich, Bavaria, Germany, it is a 16- to 18-day folk festival running from late September to end October, with more than six million people from around the world attending the event every year. Oktoberfest is an important part of Bavarian culture, having been held since the year 1810. Other cities across the world also hold Oktoberfest celebrations that are modeled after the original Munich event.
In Asia, many countries have started to adopt this celebration since we have become very much multicultural and multiracial. After all, we would say no to getting together and having a great time. So, when I was invited to attend my first Octoberfest in Vietnam, I immediately said YES!.
Not knowing how and what to expect, I arrived at my destination with an open mind. Thanks to a fellow Malaysian friend, I was introduced to other fellow Malaysians who were also there by invitation. We were brought up to the ballroom of Windsor Plaza on the 7th floor. When the doors were opened, we were greeted by the smell of fresh draught beer and a whole long buffet line.

The ballroom was fully decorated to suit the concept, they even hired a band from Munich to perform for the night with endless lucky draw for all invited guests. The main lucky draw was VND50 mil and the second lucky draw was a motorbike... Why am I not surprised.. ha ha

Best part is beer is free flow and they even had waiters walking around with a beer barrel to refill our mugs

It's amazing just how long ago this celebration has been ongoing.
In my country it has become of the events to celebrate, just like St Patrick's and Halloween even if we're still very eastern orientated region, the western festival is growing very strong already
