#ULOG 45| I Don’t Blame It On The Rain

in ulog •  7 years ago  (edited)

Once this little drop of rains hits the ground, the mist, the moisture, the sticky feeling started to create a sensation when I smell it especially while I’m outside walking the streets or on the bridge like the picture below. I took this photo during the heavy rain hits Rizal last week. It didn’t a long time to feel the cool, breezy coldness of that day. It created a leel-headed emotion while I was strolled the bridge and took the opportunity to take some photos while raining hard!

Though for some during the rainy season is the most boring period. But for me this is my firm moment; I don’t feel melted, sweaty, aghast, or even agitated. I feel like I’m happy, contented, likes to eat cup noodles (beef flavor or spicy flavour will do), drink plain black coffee (I can’t withstand 3 in one coffee now), even if I don’t eat much during lunch time or dinner time I’m not pressed to do so I feel like I’m full during wet season.

Yes, I feel lazy too during rainy season, I’m not an early riser though I have a day job, Lol, and I’m always late for work, deducting my lateness every salary day, argh! I can’t imagine I’m wasting so much money for tardiness in decades when I made my mental calculation I could buy a laptop for it! Sigh.

Visiting a nice food stall in a mall is also an option for me to stay in the meantime while the gale rampaging the city or the nearby province. I like chicken and some potatoes to eat. If budget permit me I pick Manang’s Chicken, I don’t know why I like Manang’s but it taste good for me. May be we have different taste buds but I always go to Manang’s every time I visit the mall.

As the rain continues to pour overnight or for days I can’t help to think how I am saddened seeing the rivers overflowed with garbage, ranging from left-over food, plastics, woods, even bottles, junk food, papers even human waste, what a mess! We simply ignore these rubbish during the summer or dry season knowingly and unknowingly it will pile up anytime soon in the river or any sewerage or drainage system I am always aware where to put my waste especially when I’m in the bus, jeepney or even in the office. Things where thrown on the river, canals, or any sewerage systems will in no time will go back on the streets when rainy season time is here! Drainage will be blocked, clogged, chocked because the wastes present in the sewerage and drainage systems is now not functioning its purpose in the urban develop area, what a freaking scenario!

This is an unending loop of events that is always happening in the city I live in during rainy season: flooding, health issue, land corrosion, etc. There are many attempts to clean up all the rivers, drainage, sewerage systems for decades but to no avail. My question now is during the early 18th or 19th century where there any Urban Planning for the city of Manila and its neighboring cities? Or is it throwing everything we can throw or dumping anything in the river without any regard or concern in our nature and health is the only option and ignore the danger it might bring to the community in the future that we eventually will suffer for it. If somehow the authorities during this time neglected their duties of giving the right kind of urban planning in the city then I have nothing to complain about because they too (after the Spanish regime where kicked off the island and bought by the American government the Philippine for 20Million dollars) have no regard to clean up the Manila to create an urban planning regardless if the people in the city dump or destroying the river, etc. is obviously of great concern too.

I don’t know what kind of system will have a good result in the City of Manila especially the sewerage system. As long as the authorities doesn’t have a good urban planning my city will never had a chance to have a good life during the rainy season. It will remain a pain in the butt as long as the city is underwater for most of the part. I hope one day an upright system will come up and will make this city great again and not a metropolitan cradle of dirty city and neglected job by the authorities should be doing their sworn duty in order for the city of Manila’s sewerage system have to clean up for good!

True. It's really sad seeing rivers full of garbage. I hope people will start to realize that and learn to really throw garbage properly to also reduce the risk of damaging the nature.

And by the way, i can't sleep well during rainy days that's why i dob't like it. Haha :D It gets too cold that it'll be too difficult for me to fall asleep :D

Too many typos and errors in this article, lol. It's hard to type using an Android phone. a lot of things in my head that I wanted to be in included in my post didn't post here, I just type it like I'm talking nonsense and the end result is disaster. Lol.

I love the rain too. Cool weather but sad for the floodings

There is a plan but it is the implementation and the cooperation of the people that is making those plans a failure. I saw in brief a documentation about Ms. Gina Lopez and how she cleaned up Pasig and other tributaries. It is the people who live near it that has no discipline. If only each of us can love our environment as much as we love our lives, then there is hope as we work together.

I love your photo by the way. Amidst the rain and gloom, there are still colors that brighten the day. The photo maybe blurry but the message is clear.
