M&M's are "colorful button-shaped chocolates", each one has the letter "m" printed in lower case on one side. The original candy had a filling of milk chocolate, which introduces other variations, named as "plain" variety.

M&M's "Peanut", was featuring peanut-coated in milk chocolate, and finally a candy shell, were the first variation to be introduced, and they remain a regular variety. Other of numerous variations were introduced, some of which are regular widespread varieties (such as "peanut butter", "almonds", "pretzels", "crispy", "dark chocolate" and "caramel") while others are limited in duration or availability of geography. The candy originated in the United States in 1941, and are sold in over 100 countries, since 2003.
The company was founded with two "Ms" represent the names of Forrest E. Mars Sr., the founder of Newark Company, and Bruce Murrie, son of Hershey Chocolate's president William F. R. Murrie, who had a 20 percent share in the product.
