HOT AS HELL IN BARRINGTON

in ulog •  6 years ago  (edited)

Yesterday marked the 48th Annual Nova Scotia Marathon in Barrington Passage Nova Scotia. This takes place on the South West Shore of Nova Scotia. What I refer to as the end of the world. One of the nice things about going to Barrington for the Marathon is the chance to visit the many unspoiled beaches.

What started out as a bright sunny afternoon, very hot and humid, quickly turned into something dark and misty.

Quick...........lets get to the car.

So if you cant walk on the beach because the weather is bad, then you might as well eat. At the best Seafood Restaurant I have ever been to.

So that was one mighty fine meal.

The morning of the race seemed cool at first. A little misty and a light fog. It very quickly warmed up and before we knew it, it was stifling. It was 28 degress Celsius, but felt like 39 degress Celsius, because the humidity was a whopping 81%. This made for one very hot and hellish run. You could see the heat rising from the pavement. Thankfully each aid station was equipped with water, Gatorade and sponges. At times it even seemed hard to breathe. So it really became about finishing the race. So finish I did.

Thanks for coming along on one very hot humid run.

Great job running this one with those temperatures! To me it isn't clear if the marathon is also (partly) at the beaches?

sorry...yes you do run past a bit of beach ..in the run. I tried to incude a map but it kept coming up sideways. next year lol

Hehe don't have to sorry about that, I was just wondering ;)
How long is the beach part?

Troubles with placing the map in your Steemit post?

The red and blue lines depict the half marathon and the full. The squiggly lines in the water are the beach. However along the way there were many water view and small beaches not shown on their primitive map, they hand out. It is also a lobster fishing area, so there were lots of fishing areas and boats and traps and such. Authentic if nothing else. Hope this helps.

Way to go Marion! I couldn't do it! Such great views and all that seafood. The beaches are more sandy out west I see. But still theres no escaping the atlantic fury!

Thank you. The beaches are different all over. Which makes it so unique. Some warmer, some colder, some white sand, some brown, pebbles, rocky, cliffs, huge rocks, or just grass and trees and sometimes red sand like on the Fundy side. A real mixed bag.

Well done for finishing in what I think was an awsome time 3.21.44. Stunning pictures. I am in love with your beaches, so unexpected at the end of the world.
The restaurant looks fab. No prices on the board? I suppose the go by weight. How much would a lobster cost. The fish and some steaks are marked with SP. Which my son in law called. Stupid prices lol. Not really but obviously fresh local fish is a little higher than other things on the menue.
Glad you had a good weekend and well done again.💛😎👍

Thank you. and that is a lot to answer. The board was not the menu. I think it was put there for ambiance. They passed a menu that was quite extensive. The food was excellent and not expensive. We were impressed. Lobster prices vary depending on the location and the season but it is never cheap. Thank you again.

Where on earth do you see a Steak on that menu board or a SP? In fact that board is not a Menu. It is an overview of the types of things they have ie. clams, etc.

Probably wasnt that clear. Was talking about menus here. We dont often see lobster.

Ok so I didnt make it clear enough. You win 😁😁

really had no desire to win :)))

So nice to have a fan from afar. I am in love with our beaches too. In fact I love all beaches. As I get older I find I do not always need hot weather to enjoy the beach. I love walking on the beach in mist and fog and cold weather with a warm thick sweator. It is all good and so wholesome. xx

Awesome job completing the race in that awful humidity! <3 You look really happy there in that final photo!

This shot turned out so crisp:

I was so glad to be done. Worst heat I have ever run in and one young man collapsed in front of me. Craig took some super shots which I will keep. The restaurant was so rocking good and of course the beach is always ..the beach. xx Thank you.
