Yeah, I guess the topic of my post today would have stricken some cords of remembrance in some of you who have probably seen that movie.
Well, its not about the movie today, its about the gathering of men of my church Harvest House Christian Centre. Its a #ulog post.
I have got such an awesome pastor who is not only concerned about our spiritual lives but also concerned about how everyone and every man can be significant in their responsibilities to themselves, their society, and to their home as a father and husband or husbands to be.
That's who we are
This is an initiative birthed by my pastor, Gbeminiyi Eboda to gather men to pray and also get engaged in other purposeful activities.
So today we had a breakfast meeting and it was a great time in Gods presence. I won’t be selfish, so i will share some of the things we learnt with you;
I am among the league
1. Health : The health talk was taken by one of the best and selfless Doctors I have come to know. He buttressed the fact that men tend not to be so concerned about their health as the women folks does. So we were all encouraged to ensure we do regular check ups and not just assume all is fine. We are all aging hence we can’t afford to assume things about our health. He also thought us that there are stress factors everywhere and we have to do all we can to know how to handle stress so we don’t get overwhelmed. Consistent exercise is very needful.
2. Law/Contract: Another young man in the law profession enlightened us on the need to go through every terms and conditions of contract before signing or committing to it. Once there is an offer and acceptance, such contract becomes binding. He went as far as not taking what we see on receipts with levity and ensure we have them handy. In his words “It’s better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. ”
3. Entrepreneurship : Harvest House is filled with resourceful men and so we had an awesome young speak to us about Making money. Hey! Not overnight riches though but following through times of processes and principles to get the desired outcome. He gave us a short history of how he started his business with just 2000 Nigerian Naira and was able to make a lot and leveraged on relationships also. A major point he noted was that to set out to do business, you must first recognize your target market; that is; your customers. It is also worthy of note that not all businesses succeed once they set out, but you need to keep your motivation heightened, re-strategise and relaunch.
My pastor dishing us life's principles
The gathering was brought to a close by our Pastor and Mentor Gbeminiyi Eboda who admonished us that there is no one way to success but many ways which are ordered rightly. In essence it is the aggregate of several good steps and decisions that are taken in the right direction that culminates to success.
What an awesome way to really start the day. I am so enriched on my inside to become better in all endeavors.
