ULOG #1: Choosing Kindness Instead of Hate

in ulog •  6 years ago  (edited)

Today I was able to witness the kindness of children in its purest form and it was incredible to watch.

Children are so innocent in their love for one another and in their desire for self-fulfillment that you can’t help but love them.

I was asked today to watch my friends four children because they had errands to run and their usual babysitter is sick. I hadn’t ever watched these children before but I was up for the challenge.

Playing Outside

I have a big backyard so I took them outside with a soccer ball to run around and the little one, Eve, tripped over the ball and fell at one point.

Her sister, Kaelyn, is older than Eve and immediately ran over to help her sister. The two boys weren’t far behind.

Kaelyn is such a sensitive little soul that she sat down next to Eve and pulled her in for a big hug then started wailing right along with her like she was hurt too!

It was the sweetest, most heartbreaking scene that I could imagine but it reminded me how loving children can be towards each other and how innocent they are in their behavior.

She cried for her sister and the fact that she was hurting even though she herself wasn’t hurt. And it wasn’t attention-seeking behavior either. Kaelyn really was being empathetic to her sister.

The sweetest part was that as soon as Kaelyn started to cry Eve stopped crying and hugged her sister back. I knew that Eve wasn’t physically hurt, she was just scared a little when she fell over the ball and it jarred her.

The two boys had run over to help but then stopped short when the girls were crying because they didn’t know what to do. Poor dears!

After the tears and the hugs between the two girls, they both started laughing and then ran off to play again.

My Wish

I wish life was that simple as an adult and everyone could be so empathetic to others plight instead of the usual “me first” mentality.

I do my best to help others and to keep my own vibrational energy high but sometimes its difficult to stay positive while moving forward in life.

Helping others is mentally and emotionally rewarding to me, which is why I do it. But, I don’t often sit down to cry with others and to feel their pain, not like those children did.

Maybe we should all sit down with others once in a while and physically comfort them instead of isolating ourselves in our own little world with our own problems.

Having conversations with others could take ourselves out of our heads once in a while which could be comforting in and of itself.

I enjoyed spending time with such sweet, innocent souls today and hope that I can again sometime soon. I feel that we can learn a lot from children on how to treat each other better.

Thanks for reading!

Beautiful. Just beautiful; thanks for sharing this, Ivy! :-) It's been a while since I stopped by your blog and this is the best return anyone could ask for.

It's so sad that we "unlearn" so much of what makes this post so beautiful: that's why we need to keep being reminded of the kid inside all of us! Thanks for doing that! :-) <3

It has been a while since we talked and I appreciate that you stopped by! I need to stop into helpie more because I miss my people! I love interacting with children because their love and kindness reminds me of all that is beautiful in the world. And we all need to remember how beautiful the world can be by looking through their eyes.

Thank you, I really needed this today.

You are so welcome! I'm so glad it found it its way to you then if you needed it. I love when things work out the way they are meant to.

It's really awesome you stepped up to the plate! Not everyone can handle children, especially 4!

I feel if everyone tried one act of kindness a day, we could be in a better place eventually.

You are very sweet, thanks for your kind words. These children are amazing to care for and help to care for each other so the fact that there are 4 of them doesn't really matter. I slept really well last night after taking care of them the past 2 days! LOL. We all should try to be kind to each other because there is already enough ugly in the world. And acts of kindness make us feel better too, don't they?
