WHAT HAPPENED AT A COURT TODAY

So i wanted to apply for a job and i was asked to bring my birth certificate and since i couldn't find my original birth certificate, i decided to go and register for another. So i woke up that faithful morning and went straight to a primary health centre in order for me to get a birth certificate but i was told that its only those that is below 18 years of age that can be issued a new certificate that at my age i just have to go and do Affidavit, well i was not planning to do affidavit but at this situation, i had no choice so i headed straight for the high court at Abeokuta

I got there and i was welcomed, i explained my predicament to them and they asked if i had with me two passport which i nodded my head affirmatively, so i was directed to a shop where i will go and register, and i was told on getting there i should tell the man that i was sent from the court.

On getting to the shop very close to the court, i met many people waiting to register for birth certificate then i realized how nonchalant Nigerians can be with things, so i waited and waited until it was my turn, everywhere was looking so rough with papers flying about, well i just kept calm. At last it was my turn, i was asked some normal questions and the guy was inputting it into the computer, the guy was so slow like he was using computer for the first time, he could not type a complete sentence without making mistakes, at a point i was getting woked up.

When he was getting done with the registration, i asked him how much, he said its #500, well no problem, am not even after the money just to get the affidavit is all i care for, later this guy generated my receipt for me and gave me with the printed affidavit, with a grateful heart, i took both my receipt and the birth certificate when my eyes saw something unbelievable.

What!!!!! the guy told me its just N500 and am seeing on my receipt N100, not only that i saw a note clearly writing that this birth certificate is just 100 and nobody should pay anything above that, i was angry, i went to the guy and i told him guy you said its 500 and on my receipt it stated N100

the guy told me that is how its being done, i told him never, this is corruption you told me N5OO and i saw N100, the guy was now getting angry and was talking rudely which got me so angry, young man if you are not careful i will call the police now and they will lock your shop and send you to jail, what nonsense, this is where corruption begins, if you cannot be truthful with just small amount of money, do you know who i am? do you know what am capable of doing!, when he saw how serious i am, he started begging, am sorry ma, please ma, it is not my fault ma, it's from the the court, listen young man i said you have just two option, is either you issue another receipt stating the N500 i paid or you give me my N400 balance, he continued begging then when i brought out my phone, he became very scared and begged to give me 200, that it was his boss that put him in charge, well i took pity on him and collected the money and went to the court to complete the registration.

This is the world we live in today, corruption everywhere, no one wants to be truthful again, how can Nigeria become a great country with the way its citizens are behaving. Nigeria needs help, we need help in our country, lets put an end to all these dubious activities, change start from every one of us, its left to you and me to put a stop to this SAY NO TO CORRUPTION!!!!!
