This post is going to be a declaration of the activity map that I'm going to follow in my pole dancing journey.
In case you wanted to know, I still suck at pole.
Don't mistake this as a cry for help, though. This is actually a proactive approach towards my working a way around it. Let's call this "Operation: Suck Less at Pole." I have decided to share it here on Steemit, with the rationale similar to that of Thomas Frank's The Impossible List.
Stretch everyday
I really really really want to perform a tight square split, but my muscles aren't that flexible yet. I'm thinking of incorporating stretching into my daily habit. As to when this'll probably be done is still a question since I am a busy woman. But, I really really really wanna be able to do it so I have no choice but to get over this huge activation energy blocking my way. A way for me to lessen the activation energy to do this is to prepare my mat the night before and have it greet me the first thing in the morning. I can track my progress on this task through a system that rewards me. Punishment doesn't work on me.
Build arm strength thrice a week
This is probably the hardest for me to comply out of the items that I've listed here because I don't have weights (audible background noise: excuses!). Seriously though, anybody here who knows good alternatives to weights that they use in gyms? I have two really thick books. Will they serve the same purpose? What should I do? Enlighten a sister out. Similar to the previous one, I can track my progress on this task through a system that rewards me.
Eat within my daily calorie requirement
This means goodbye to chocolates, pizza, sugary drinks, French fries, burgers basically EXTRA DELICIOUS FOODS. But I have to maintain my weight in order to maximize my ability to lift myself up the pole. I can track my progress on this by logging in my meals and estimating its calorie content.
Walk the distance from the jeepney stop to our house everyday.
This'll be my small step cardio activity. I have to make sure that in case I won't be able to do this, I have to make up for it in some other way. I can monitor my progress on this still by logging it in a notebook or by finding a reward system that will enable me to do this consistently.
Will all of these ultimately step my game up at pole dancing?
I don't know. But it's worth a shot.
To sucking less at pole,
@thegaillery
Motivation is very rewarding @thegaillery.
Hopefully always healthy for yourself
