Ulog # 8/20 with a 15 min write that got a little out of hand

in ulog •  6 years ago

This was not my intended post today. Have a lot of things going on and as I stated a couple posts ago this week is filled with doctors appointments. So it will be an in and off Steemit all week.

I started my day in the usual way and from there and jumped into Steemit. I couldn't believe the amount of comments I have received. It is a great thing to see right off the bat. So right away got going answering everyone of them. I do appreciate everyone of the comments. And I believe that all should be answered and at a minimum a vote given. I got them all done.

People often say how the wish to have followers and so on. If you do not engage with them why ask for them. I see this in so many accounts. Not to mention all the accounts that offer a vote from them. I even seen where people send steem to them in hopes of getting a vote. If you look at the accounts of the one given votes he has 0.00 votes to give. yet people ask and send steem requesting someone to give them nothing, zero. LMAO...............Be careful what you ask for !!!! and to whom.

I also read some articles today. Let me just say that a hard fork is coming on Sept 25th. This is going to have some big changes. One of them affects you and it's about you vote. If you have less than 15 SP your vote will not register. People have been saying over the past couple that this is a great time to power up. Don't drain your voting power %. and vote wisely. Most people Shrugged it off. It's still not to late.

The other issue I have run across is, The people selling their accounts. The problem is that the people buying them are doing so to increase the number of accounts they hold and use them in ways to take your earnings instead of working at it themselves like the rest of us do.

There was a post today from one of our witness from @steemcommunity. Every week or so @abh12345 puts out a post where he comes the blockchain on specific information. This time its about which class of users receive your vote. Some good information on where your support goes.

upvotepersent.png

I was surprised when I saw this. 59% of my vote (0.01 or above) goes to supporting people under 500 SP. There are over 1.1 million redfish on the platform and only 11 thousand of the other classes. So you do the math on the support that redfish get and why engagement is so important.

I received some whale's upvote on the comments which I made on their posts but hey never upvote my posts. The concept of proof of brain is not working at all. Nobody upvotes a post if he/she don't find it profitable. Most of the people follow whales and automatically upvote them in hope of earning curation reward.
HF20 the much hyped change, proved to be nothing more than system update. It has not touched the issues of reward pool siphoning. This is very disappointing.

the issues of reward pool siphoning. This is very disappointing.

Yes that is
Hopefully it will take care of some of the Bot votes. But I alway thought that the first 10 min all reward went to the poster. Guess I did not get that right.

Hope the week goes well for sure man you support a lot of us thank you. I want to start to upvote comments but I can't keep my voting power up if I get that slider it might help but who knows.

a 1% vote with 120 Steem Power @ 100% voting power. You won't be affected very much by the change if you use a slider. But your power needs to stay high and adjusted as you vote.
Have to pay close attention to your power so if you increase it to 2-3 % that would give you a lot more votes to cast. I use 10-15 % but it will not clear the dust. so dustsweepers is important
you have to keep powering up. My vest is 1.5 mil yours is 250 thousand. See the differance

I believe that all should be answered and at a minimum a vote given

I believe that all should be anaserwed but after hearing about the dust level and that my VP actually goes to waste I stopped upvoting most comments and saved the UV for posts or fantastic comments that I would use a higher enough VP to get over the dust, which is getting harder and harder these days. Can't wait to see it flip back around.

It will not but I hope they have dustsweeper to pick up the slack
Once I hit 80% I stop voting. sometimes high 80's depending on when I will be back up. I don't want my VP staying at 100 %, thats a wast

So I am done voting tonight

@wolfhart I aim to keep my VP between 90% and 80%, I have dust sweeper, I think that many don't.

I agree that to many don't have it. as a redfish I believe it is a must. Its the best way they can maximise their rewards otherwise the votes they receive goes to nothing

@wolfhart It's a good idea but you still need money to make it happen. when you are very new you don't have much to share around, I used everything I ever had to power up for the first three months or so,

It does not take too long to build up 0.5 steem to send them.

Thanks for using your pie chart in a post @wolfhart, it's one to be proud of for sure.

Next week I think I'll try to get vote weight applied to 'class'. That might give a better picture of where votes go. Cheers!

Thanks asher. I appreciate the job that you do for the platform in so many areas. 👍👍👍

I hope all your doctor appointments go well this week ;)

Selling accounts? Geez, what will they think of next?

Thanks for the heads up on Asher's post; that is really surprising. I'm going to have to go check out mine. I love all those posts he does!

Yea they are great. I like to see yours too. :)

Yea I have to start getting for the doctors now. Mo0st of it is a waste of time.

It's actaully quite impressive to see that at Minnow level you more willing to give back to the Redfish. Whereas most Dolphins and above don't invest that much in us.

I'm still new so still on delegation, but teh more I explore steemit the more I notice its the minnows who take teh time to help the small guys out. You guys run teh competitions and are will to give back in small and significant votes if teh content deserves it.

It's just strange how the roles change as users elevate.

Also, I'm interested in your opinion about not wasting your vote power. I Have heard 2 opposing views.

  1. your vote means nothing so go forth and vote and gain some exposure.
  2. Don't vote more than 5times a day or you won't benefit

I get very little curation rewards from voting anyway, so not sure which is best!

Short answer
keep your VP as close to 100% as possible.
Vote no more than 8-10 times in any 24 hr period

  • get dustsweepers*

I will try and do a post on this later

Awesomenesssss!! I look forward to reading it!! Thanks for the short answer though!! Already have @dustweeper!! Dusty is the beeeesssst!!!

Everything you express is a reality, this platform has many positive things and you have to know how to take advantage of them, since I am here I have learned a lot and every day I try to improve my content. regards

Thank you
and yes it takes work and learning about the platform. One step at a time

Good luck with your Dr appointment.
Thanks for sharing this info.
I'm still trying to figure it out so much appreciated!

Big learning curve

Awesome post, my man. People really do need to think about how this thing works and put together a strategy for building community that leads to rewards. Quit trying to game it and start playing the game.

Quit trying to game it and start playing the game

How true. Everyone wants something for nothing or at least without working for it

You announce some changes, I hope to be well thought out, this platform needs change and I look forward. Thanks for the numbers!

I hope so to. Improvement are needed and its a slow and steady process. Its only 2 years old

Yes, agree! A change could improve things.

Wow, did you not have a single whale vote? The percentage breakdowns are pretty telling on engagement. That less than 1% that gets 41% of your vote, tends to show that level of engagement pretty well. I would say, if it were not for your outreach through PIFC etc. that the 41% would probably be even higher.
I'm going to have to check and see what mine is.

No not really. I only know a couple of Dolphins so that will not increase. A couple of the redfish I have been engaging with are now minnows. So if anything increases it will be the minnows because of their account growth. I support people who power up more than anything else.

Your post topic is realy good. There are many good articles in your post which come in a lot of ways

I hope you go through and learn something from them that will help you. There are so many things to learn. Power up because vest is going to play an important part.

Why not support the little accounts =) after all they are the ones that need it most, are most appreciative, and usually work the hardest to provide noteworthy content

That is a chart where my votes go. 59% to the very little guy. I don't know how many others have that kind of a breakdown, support for the little guy.

howdy tonight sir wolf! very interesting numbers but I read that there were only about 60,000 active members, is that correct? that's pretty small for a world-wide social media account.

According to what I just read its

I got that from @abh12345. so got to be right

yeah but is that active members or just registered members? I hope they are, I'm just wondering.

This is registered accounts, the 'active' (whichever criteria you choose) is much less. I think 50/60 thousand different accounts post from week to week.

oh howdy abh12345, you showed up at the perfect time! thank you for the explanation. so the bottom line is we need to keep growing the platform to make an impact on the world's social media stage.
And from what I've read the hardfork improvements should help.
thank you again!

ROFL you did not expect to see him here.
Its call engagement. Maybe one day you will have some impressive numbers in engagement. Naaaa
probably not. :)

You need to keep powering up it is so important. 👍

haha! I don't know Wolf, I don't know if I'm cut out for this or not! lol. hey I tried to power up today and I got an error message saying that I didn't have enough liquid steem to do it? I have no idea what that means.

12.522 looks like it worked :)
