They say our hair is our crowning glory. And crowning glory it is since it makes a big difference to our physical appearance.
I used to color my mom’s hair. But for a time, she decided to stop having her hair dyed. She says that those chemicals may have a negative effect on her health. I argued that it is okay to color hair, and that some brands are safe, organic even. I further argued the fact that it would make one look younger. But she retaliated with an argument I couldn’t refute. She showed me this Bible text from her iPad.
Proverbs 20:29
29 The glory of young men is their strength: and the beauty of old men is the gray head
I rest my case. Gray hair it is.
I lost count of how long ago was the last time I had her hair dyed. But the seeming prominence of gray hair over the black ones was a manifestation that it was months ago.
Thanks to the birth of selfies though, she noticed that that gray hairs made her look older than she should be. So she decided for herself to have her hair colored. I was glad to have on stock an organic hair dye.
First things first. Skin test.
When it was clear the mom isn’t allergic, I prepared myself and the hair color.
Then patiently comb the hair color mix to my mom's hair making sure that every strand is combed well.
Then we wait for a little less than 30 minutes for the mixture to set in. After which, I assisted my mom in rinsing then it's done!
I can say that being my Mom’s Personal Beautician is just one way of showing my love for her. We only get to have one mom in our life so might as well love her, right?
