Today on WINI'S DIARY I am going to be talking about my faculty's field trip to OKOMU national park in Edo state NIgeria.
On the 18th May , the day started off with heavy rain and we were meant to leave by 9 am . While it was raining i was busy playing dressup for the park it was so much fun had loud music up 😄😄😄😅. Had to choose from these two looks.
or
Finally by 11am the rain decided to stop , i was super happy so i ran to meet up with the bus at university of Benin Engineering car park.... i meet my friends @roselynpage and @estheromoyiwola......
THE BUS RIDE BEGAN
We were over 70 students in a bus of 50 sitting capacity, we had to carry each other and most gentlemen stood for the ladies..it was a 45 minutes drive to okomu town and it was fun all the way ;we sang ,some danced, and listened to nice jams, jokes were flying in the air. It was quite a noisy bus. At a point the driver did not know the way to the village , we had to use google maps but there was no network. Some boys had to come down to start asking questions around. I was so scared to me we were lost on the forest, far away from home. 😣😣
We finally got back on track and found the OKOMU NATIONAL PARK ORIENTATION OFFICE In my heart i was like let the adventure begin not knowing that we still had a long way to go to the actual park. We picked a tour guide and a ranger with a short gun to show and protect us in the park. Then we finally arrived HURRAY!!

The bus had to stop due to deep pot holes on the road, we had to walk 4 kilo meters to tree house that was too discouraging ( i hate walking long distance ).
THE 4 KM WALK BEGAN
The first 2.4 km was on the muddy messy road my cute blue canvas turned brown, i looked so dirty. At a point ,my friend @estheromoyiwola had to join a hole full of dirty mud water, i had to give her moral support while the other one @roselynpage worn canvas with heels almost twisted her ankle.
@estheromoyiwola JUMPING A POTHOLE
We got to the second half , here we had to walk inside the deep forest for about 1.6km to get to the tree house. We were excited when we saw the sign board of the tree house
It was a dark path inside the forest , i was terrified lost sight of the ranger leading the team. We just kept walking deeper and deeper into the forest. My hair got stuck to a branch with thorns . I started you regret why i came on the trip. I made a video of me in my terror mode
As we were walking, we started hearing sounds of happiness from the people that were ahead of us , we became filled with adrenaline and ran with hope towards the end of the forest tunnel. There was a very high tree house of about 120ft and a mini bridge. We took billions of selfies and pictures.
People with brave hearts climbed up to the tree house but when they returned they regretted their decision to go up, i pitied and laughed at them because i personally warned them Not to climb.
I went only 4 steps up😀😀😀😀😀
The day got darker ,we assumed the ranger would show us a short cut back to the bus but we were heart broken when he said we are going back the way we came ( meaning another 4km in the dark forest ) i just started the walk early before animals will come and surprise us. The walk back was actually shorter than when we were coming. We just kept walking until we saw the end of the forest path.
When everyone arrived at the bus ,there was no more noise as in no-one had the strength to talk about anything . We went back to the
OKOMU NATIONAL PARK ORIENTATION OFFICE
And food was shared.
The journey back to school started by 7:20pm and i am scared of night driving. I was just praying in my heart.....
In summary
We reached school safely and everyone said their goodbyes.

An amazing time with nature and friends. Twas an interesting one. I guess the rain was not in the plan but it still made the journey more intriguing. Fun had no limit. I guess the next will be at the Amazon wink
