Spiritual seeker: Do not let wisdom and understanding out of your sight, preserve sound judgment and discretion

Nehemiah is the wine manager in the court of King Artaxerxes, king of Persia, and he is sent to Juda to rebuild the city of Jerusalem that had been destroyed by the Babylonians. During his rule, he must establish justice among his people and must face many enemies, including the Samaritans. Nehemiah's actions show us that prudence is not enough to overcome all obstacles and is necessary the help of the spiritual gifts of God to complete the mission.
Deception and lies are always lurking during Nehemiah's life, so an old proverb from the Bible becomes very necessary:
"My son, do not let wisdom and understanding out of your sight, preserve sound judgment and discretion; they will be life for you, an ornament to grace your neck. Then you will go on your way in safety, and your foot will not stumble" Proverbs 3:21-23.
Nehemiah goes to see a collaborator in the works of restoration of Jerusalem and receives a false prophecy, but Nehemiah with understanding discerns the deception, is not carried away by fear and makes the correct decision guided by the gifts of God:
"One day I went to the house of Shemaiah son of Delaiah, the son of Mehetabel, who was shut in at his home. He said, ´Let us meet in the house of God, inside the temple, and let us close the temple doors, because men are coming to kill you—by night they are coming to kill you.´
But I said, ´Should a man like me run away? Or should someone like me go into the temple to save his life? I will not go! I realized that God had not sent him, but that he had prophesied against me because Tobiah and Sanballat had hired him. He had been hired to intimidate me so that I would commit a sin by doing this, and then they would give me a bad name to discredit me.
Remember Tobiah and Sanballat, my God, because of what they have done; remember also the prophet Noadiah and how she and the rest of the prophets have been trying to intimidate me." Nehemiah 6:10-14.
