Sexual violence can take many forms. It violates the most basic of human rights, and its effects resonate long after the act. It also perpetuates the vulnerability of women and girls to HIV infection.
Too often, societies choose to ignore sexual violence. But to realize the promise of an AIDS-free generation, sexual violence must end. That begins by breaking the silence around it.
This short video considers the impact of gender violence and its role in the HIV/AIDS epidemic, while outlining the steps needed to end to sexual violence against women and girls.
