The joys of owning a Mercedes Benz UNIMOG 404
These are ex Swiss Military vehicles, after their tour of duty, these two made their way to the USA. The first one I purchased (left side foto) was in the hands of Makani wing.
Makani wing was A subsidiary of Alphabet, a project to make sustainable energy via a giant wing with propellers. As it flew through the air the energy was sent back on a tether which then fed battery banks and to supply energy. After the wing broke from its tether and started fires across the way the project was scrapped and everything at Makani wing was put up for auction. Unimog was a trip carrier that was set up to test kites during the building of their wing.
After removing all the test equipment, motors, and different apparatuses that were on back of the truck, the bed was stripped down to the bare metal, and rebuilt into a flatbed for rock crawling.
The second Unimog was purchased because it was a complete troop transport. It came with The original generator to charge the batteries, it had the tool bag with a handmade box with all the lightbulbs, mom will appear to be a butt plug but once you open it up it held a military grade spark plug. It came with both benches, the canvas top, original snow chains, also a canvas bucket and sponge to wash the vehicle. All of which was part of original Swiss Military package.
