I went through Hurricane Ike back in the day, and I can say that having even a few solar panels helps a person more than most people think. We went fourteen days on the panels we had; the only ones who had lights for mile immediately after the disaster. Lights = security. That's the number one thing. There was a lot of theft after about day three or four. We were armed and well lit. You could hear gunshots every now and again as the thieves and the citizens worked out their problems in the dark.
Good for you and what you do. Those poor survivors deserve better. An upvote I'm glad to give!
Thank you so much. And thank you for sharing your own experience as well.
