I want to be successful as much as I can but I realized I might not be successful as fast as I want. Problems emerges when we want success over night, we put on the garment of greed and do things before we think them out instead of the other way round. I just finished watching the video “Inside the brilliant mind of James Altucher” where Bryan Ellioh interviewed James.
If you have been following up on my updates before now, you might have noticed I’m a chronic fan of James Altucher and that’s something I am pretty proud of. James is one of those few unconventional entrepreneurs that knows how to get me motivated anytime. I have learnt a lot from him that really got my life improved.
Whenever I am down, I keep going back to his blog to get energy to rise. I recommend everyone to check out his blog he’s currently running a contest where he will be giving out 1BTC currently worth over $5000 to one lucky winner.
Below are four lessons I learnt watching that great interview
Success does happen fast but not overnight
Success is achieved over time and not over night. You’ve got to get good at failing to master success. The reason some people don’t succeed is because they haven’t succeeded in failing enough. James Altucher is a good example of how progression of failures might equal success.
He has started over 20 businesses and failed at 17, but the few that succeeded made the huge difference.
He’s been in business as far back as 1994 and even made some pretty good money selling his website design company in the dotcom bubble of late 19s. If you want to talk about James successes, there is no way you’re going to jump over his failures.
What I have learnt in summary is that success does happen fast, maybe over time but certainly not overnight.
Welcome change as much as you can
The only thing that doesn’t change in our world is change itself, every other things change. Some changes are minor, some are major, some happen rapidly, others slowly. It could be disastrous to fight against change instead of adapting to it.
James said: "one of the worst advice he could get is for someone to tell him to stick to what works before. The world changes constantly and we live in a world that evolve and as human we are made to adapt."
How fast you adapt determines how fast you will succeed. Technological changes is rapid in our generation and those that are taking note early, have the opportunity to make fortune.
Every changes in our world comes with load of opportunities and every revolution present a solution, how you respond determine how fast you succeed.

Focus is not a great idea
James said: "If you focus on one thing, you might miss all the exciting things happening around you." I have known James for disputing conventional wisdom such as this. He said both Focus and passion are not great ideas. Using when you’re a kid as example (maybe 9 year old), you didn’t know your passion nor are you focused on a venture but look at the amazing things you did.
The problem with focus is that you lose out on the amazing opportunities of our evolving world. If you were too focused on Vlogging and determine you wouldn’t do STEEMIT, or venture into any other great online earning opportunity, you will definetly lose out on the wealth making opportunity around.
Things you should focus on are things that are self-focused and a focus shouldn’t prevent you from participating in other great ideas.

Choose Yourself Everyday
James Altucher is the “Choose Yourself” man and he wrote a bestselling book in 2013 titled: “Choose Yourself”. If you don’t choose yourself, other people will choose you and you might not find that funny.
In this video James Said: my goal everyday is to fill my day with as many of my own choices as possible and that’s choosing yourself. Choosing yourself allow you to live your life instead of other people living it for you.
If I decide to blog on steemit everyday, that’s because its my choice and something I really want to do because it worth doing and not because @ned or @anyotherwhale will blame me for not blogging on steemit. Filling my life daily with my own choices give me the opportunity to kick out bad choices over time and take the right choices that will transform my life.

Yeah, i have been a fan of James for a long term and he's got different unconventional opinions all the time.
Personally, i think he's worth listening to pretty much because what he shares is usually his life experiences and not just some advice from the air.
Thanks for reading and stopping by
