Last week I took the kids on a hike through Bastrop State Park. There was a huge forest fire here 4 or 5 years ago, and these hiking trails were still closed when we stayed there 2 years ago.
It was really neat for my children to walk through the now young forest, wittnessing the beautiful balance between life and death.
We all hiked barefoot to do some grounding and connect with Pachamama. My son never wears shoes, I rarely aak him to even consider it (except when the ground is really hot!!!!) We are blessed to live in Central Texas where barefeet abound.
We stopped and ate a picnic and talked about the burnt decay and new life surrounding us. We thought it was incredible that some partially burned trees had green leaves, and that so many completely burnt tree trunks still stand so many years after losing their life.
Looking good with all the new growth.
