In the midst of creating a Lego amusement park the other night with my son,
in which the little Lego guys would pick a ride in one of the various parts of the park (the "not scary" section, or the "dangerous" section--featuring the craziest, most death-defying amusements) and my son would zoom them around the room or toss them up and down, demonstrating how the rides worked, while I did the scared and screaming voices of the characters in hand. He really loves this type of play. We played again tonight for about a half hour, and he added a "horror" section to the park. To be able to enter this part of the park, you have to answer "yes" to the question "do you like horror" at the gate :)
Anyway, I eventually split off from the amusement park and began formulating a quick and informal plan for a simple Rube Goldberg machine (called a Pitagora Suwichi--Pythagoras Switch--here in Japan). Z-Bee created the goal, which is a bucket full of treasure for Spider Man to fall into when he gets bitten by a spider, and we set up our simple machine and made a video.
I hope you like it!
(Thanks for stopping by! Unschooling is an educational philosophy which is centered on the common sense truth that humans learn NATURALLY, and that we learn best when we FOLLOW OUR OWN INTERESTS! Everything is connected, and as such, pursuing one's own unique path will lead to lots of exciting subjects and places, and the vital knowledge needed for life and everyday survival is right there along the way. Why not do what makes you HAPPY! If you missed the last Unschooling Blog, Vol. 49: "Learning to Drive, Ride a Bike, and...How NOT to Wreck!
