I've taken up one of those unscrambling spelling bee games, with points for words depending on how many letters are in them, and a bonus if you use all the letters in the "hive" -- seven in all. I get to "Amazing" -- you have to get all the words they think are words to get to "Genius," which is the next level. Anyhow, I'm guessing that a human being isn't entirely behind this, because you can't quite tell what will be or what will not be recognized as a word.
Here are some NON-WORDS, according to the game:
SAKES
GYRE
EDENIC
RECOVERER
UNDENIED
and quite a few of that sort ... As for animals and plants and such, you never know. These were not recognized:
SORA (but PEEWIT was recognized)
HOOPOES (but HOOPOE was recognized)
COATI (but BONOBO was recognized)
A lot of slang words and shortened words are recognized, but again, you don't know till you try. AMMO is, but MOJO isn't. CHICHI is -- a slang word I'd never heard of, but CACA isn't.
It sure is a source, though, of WORDS THAT SHOULD EXIST, that would use all 7 letters, depending on the puzzle:
SHOEPHONE
KNEEPICKER
THERMAX
And then there are "words" I'd never use, because they're clearly substandard, slangy, clunky: MAJORLY, which I guess is somewhere below GENERALLY and above PRIVATELY.
