Dear Diary: Internet in my Country is So Expensive and Slow a Product of Monopoly

I had been using a VPN to go online ever since I had discovered the Internet. At first there were fee VPN providers that I was using but the caveat is that you have to really be updated about how to connect and sometimes you have to join their chat or forum group for a while so that you can e given a free connection privilege. I do not have a time for those so I just buy my premium service for this particular type of VPN so that I can not have much of a problem connecting to the precious Internet.

But lately it has been hard because my provider is just getting a way to throttle my connection so I have just switched into their 3G system and in that way my VPN seems to work now. That is why I was able to type and post this article of mine. So now I am just connected but with a very slow Internet. I do not like this of course because it is slow. I am also afraid that my SIM card could get completely blocked if I would exceed the data usage.

This is the problem with an oligarch type of Internet business here in my country where there are only two major networks that controls the Internet service. They are monopolizing in a way the service so the people are now getting the burden of a very bad service with their very expensive charges which in my opinion is not justified because it really is expensive and in fact one of the most expensive in our region.

I think the government will be making a way for the people here to get a fast and affordable Internet in the near future. The plan I think is the laying of some underground cables that would connect this country directly outside and I think that the government will be the one also that will provide it for the people. I do not know the details but surely the Internet problem could get a resolution so that me and my fellow countrymen could finally enjoy a good Internet connection in the future.

without the competition some telecommunications company , then the Internet products will compete with each other provide the best for the customers. this was the one that is needed in a market. if only stand a company that will not make prudok the better. hopefully the government to make changes and provide the best for the people. @cryptopie

hopefully better network and government more attention to him because, internet service users are very large in every country

I agree with you, the government should think about changes to the Internet, so that the Internet be the best in the country. @cryptopie

I am sorry to hear the internet situation in your country is so poor. I hope they fix it soon and find a way to make it affordable for everyone.

I think this problem is happening globally to a greater or lesser extent. My internet connection has been dropping out frequently recently, but the network provider, one of the largest companies in the UK, refuses to admit that there is a problem in the area. I wonder if it would be possible to have an open source cable network.

GREEDY COMPANY at its best!

I agree. Duterte should bring competitions for the telcom

Sounds familiar that two companies have a monopoly on internet. Have the problem here as well. But most likely your connection will cost a lot more than here even, so my upvote is yours (sorry its only two cents!!i dont have more sp) hopefully steemit can make you the money you need for this next to all the other expensive sruff you already have to do. Hang in there, bro!

Hi my dear friend. I had days that I did not see your post so go to say hello, well at least you are with us and fine. Thanks God. Grettings.

Sana nga matupad lahat ng plano. Sa panahon ngayon karapatan natin ang mabilis na internet, lalo na kung napupunta sa mabuti ang pag gamit nito.

The internet connects us but also divides us, I know it frustrates me so much when it just does not work or is so slow as to be pointless. But I am thankful you are able to perceiver and get your posts out - hopefully one day you will find that one decent connection.

Hope indeed the government steps in very soon! Without much competition the only one's truly benefiting are the unscrupulous wealthy companies and its citizen's wallet thinner and thinner. I know many in the Philippines struggle. Is there a nearby public library with internet or a cafe with internet? Sometimes, these can be very helpful options, if you have them. Most importantly if you're able to physically get there to write your blog.

There are places with free WiFi but it is inconvenient for me to go there. @coquiunlimited

I imagined this might be so. I understand some of the challenges.

Yes but I am managing somewhat.

In my place is also very slow and expensive

should be fixed immediately

I agree with you..
