Dear Diary: Reminiscing my Old Grandfather

Too bad I have no photograph of my grandfather. In fact our family I think has a very miniscule collection of photographs in both my father and mother's side of the family. And we here in our family just had some photo collections because my father bought a camera, one later went broken with a precious used film inside undeveloped and lost and the other one was given to my father's cousin, apparently to be sold to him but never was paid.

So my memory with my grandfather was just from when he was visiting here and even on the photographs, not much to come by but from the one with my Aunt's wedding and that's eons of years ago. My grandfather sometimes goes to our home with a cooked deer meat on who know's where he found that. He even took home the skull with an antler of one freshly stripped of meat. Then put it above the roof to dry, imagine the smell.

Often my grandfather shows up drunk in our home only we are learning after that he came home from the north province but went to the other village directly because his friend's were there. It is rumored that my grandfather together with some of cohorts killed one guy just one the second village from here because of some reason. But my father also told us that during the war (WW2) he conducts ambushes even with fellow countrymen just to rob them of their belongings.

My grandmother also had a lot of bad experience from my grandfather and put her in a lot of sorrow and grief because he doesn't give her money. So she is left to make money by making rice delicacies and selling it on the street. She told me one time that she owns these egg-laying chickens. When my grandfather's friends goes to visit their home, he would then give them a chicken. So my grandmother just sold all her chickens than just be given away by my grandfather.

My grandfather got afflicted with stroke with half of his body rendered useless. He died in an accident when he apparently fell off a boat and drowned in a river on the north province and his body never was found despite my father which was working abroad in the mid-90's funded his search using my uncle but to no avail.
