Good morning Steemit Community, I want to share with you today the step by step process on how to go to one of the beautiful Island of Philippine - Boracay Island, specially to those who are dreaming to visit it.

To know more about Boracay

Boracay is a small island in the central Philippines. It's known for its resorts and beaches. Along the west coast, White Beach is backed by palm trees, bars and restaurants. On the east coast, strong winds make Bulabog Beach a hub for water sports. Nearby, the observation deck on Mount Luho offers panoramic views over the island. Offshore, coral reefs and shipwrecks are home to diverse marine life. Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boracay

I know Boracay is a common place for those people who always afford to travel, but to those first timer like me it is a wonderful place to visit. To those people living abroad I hope this post could guide you and assist you how you can visit Boracay.

Let's start, I am excited!

I believe there are lots of way to go to Boracay Island, but here is the steps that I personally experienced how to go to Boracay.

Step 1. FROM YOUR ORIGIN TO KALIBO OR CATICLAN AIRPORT

When you booked with your favorite airlines you need to take note that there are two places you can choose to go to Boracay Island. First, is through Kalibo Airport second is through Caticlan Airport. The distance will vary depending to your source of origin. But to give you a picture in mind which airport near to Boracay Island, see below pictures.

KALIBO AIRPORT TO BORACAY ISLAND
Kalibo Aklan.PNG

Kalibo International Airport is an airport that serves the general area of Kalibo, the capital of the province of Aklan in the Philippines, and is one of two airports serving Boracay. Estimated distance of 75 kilometers and travel time 2 hours and 20 minutes.

CATICLAN AIRPORT TO BORACAY ISLAND
Caticlan.PNG

The second one is Godofredo P. Ramos Airport also known as Caticlan Airport in the town of Malay. It is the fastest growing airport in the Philippines in terms of passenger traffic with more than 50% growth in 2010, and 2nd fastest for seats offered for June 2014 over the corresponding month of the previous year (20%). Estimated distance of 9.4 kilometers and travel time 52 minutes.

Always remember that it is a best practice to book for a back and fort ticket to avoid any delay on your part. Once you already have your option let us proceed with step 2.

STEP 2.1 FROM KALIBO AIRPORT TO JETTY PORT

We have two scenario here, if you choose to booked to Kalibo, you need to booked another transportation service that will fetch you from Kalibo Airport going to Jetty Port and it will take you estimated 2 hours to reach Jetty port, the fare is around less than 200 pesos or $4. [note: Tourist bus from the Airport to the Jetty port is 200 Pesos or $4, recommended]

Step 2.2 FROM CATICLAN TO BORACAY ISLAND

If you choose Caticlan, it will only take you around 20 -30 minutes to go to Jetty Port it will only cost you around 50 pesos or $1 from Caticlan to Jetty Port.

In terms of land travel you can research for an agency that is offering Bus, Van or Shuttle. I can recommend travelbook.ph which I personally used to book hotels and transportation. You can check the rates today via below link.

Step 3. FROM JETTY PORT TO BORACAY ISLAND

Once you arrived at Jetty Port you will pay for an environmental fee of 100 pesos or $2 per head and terminal fee of 75 pesos or $1.5 per head each way. You will ride to a Ferry boat that will only cost you 25 pesos or $0.5 for day time travel and 30 pesos or $0.6 for night time traveler. It will only take you around 10 to 15 minutes of boat travel. After riding at the ferry boat, here you go, you reach the Beautiful island of Boracay. Oppps wait there is last transfer, go to step 4.

Step 4. FROM BORACAY ISLAND TO YOUR HOTEL

Yes, you still need to ride a motor cycle or van from Boracay Port going to your hotel depending on your selected station. Boracay has 3 different Station. Below links shows the uniqueness of each station.

Personally, we stayed at station 2 of Boracay because it is in the middle of two stations so it is easy for us to do hopping. Boracay is very wonderful place for family, friends and lovers, you will enjoy the crystal clear water and fine white sands. People are good, they are friendly, and you can meet different race like Koreans, Chinese, Americans, Italians, and more.

Summary

  1. Booked a back and fort plane ticket with your preferred airlines.
  2. Booked a land transportation (from Airport to Jetty Port)
  3. Booked a water transportation (from Jetty Port to Boracay Island)
  4. Booked a land transportation (from Boracay Island to your Hotel)

By the way you can booked all of these in one booking agency. You will do the same for your return.

Important things to consider

  1. Bring your passport or ticket
  2. Bring your valid ID's (make sure the name provided in ID is the same with your ticket)
  3. Don't bring extra liquids because the airport will hold it. (liquids like, Shampoo, deodorant, lotion, perfume etc)
  4. Try to wear sandals instead of shoes to avoid inconvenience specially for last and final baggage x-ray
  5. Please never leave your valuables in your stroller or pull bag. Put it in your hand carry bag. (Please take note on this)
  6. Bring extra money to enjoy your vacation.
  7. If you are using different currency other than peso better to exchange it first.
  8. Bring your traveler's map for your reference

Hope you find it helpful guys, it is my joy to share it to you and hope you enjoy your future vacation in Boracay.
