Steemit Untalented Contest - Re-Introduction - Who Am I

in untalentedcontest •  7 years ago

Boy, this is gonna be a long one.

But before my reintroduction , I would like to give a tremendous amount of thank you to Sir @surpassinggoogle for giving me this opportunity to join this contest.

This is a one of a kind contest where in the participant is encouraged to show the real him/her, you don't have to be talented in anything.

Just being you is enough to showcase the world how wonderful you are and that's the reason why I decided to join this contest.

If you would like to join this contest, please, you're very much welcome to do so. Just go this post

Who Am I?

I'm Jackie Chan

Just kidding guys! I just remembered one of Jackie's classic movie Who Am I. (He's my favorite actor)

Kidding aside, I'm Ryan, you can call me Rye, the one with the brown shirt.

I was born in Cavite City, Philippines. I am the eldest with 4 siblings, 1 brother, 1 sister and 2 half sisters.

My mom and dad got separated when I was very young, probably when I was 5 years old or younger. I used to live from place to place between them but I got used to it. I was a very spoiled brat even though we weren't rich, got a lot of toys and always playing games. I used to take life for granted.

Years later, (I was 14) never thought I'd lose my mom at such a young age. It was a major turning point in my life that made me think about me and my sibling's futures and it made me realize that life is not just about all the glitz and glamour.

I am a high school graduate. I took up BS Criminology which I didn't like (It was my dad who wants me to become a policeman), never finished even just one semester.

I started working when I was 17 in several fastfood restaurants then became a bagger in a leading supermarket. Good thing is as I gain experience, I've also learned that having a growth mindset could potentially change your life for the better.

So after I ended up my contract from my last job, I took up an English training class to work in a call center. I learned lots of things and eventually earn more that I never thought I could.

However, during those years that I'm earning a bit more than most people like me, I've also learned that earning more doesn't equal to being happy and satisfied. I used my money to buy unnecessary things, drinks everywhere, party every pay day, living from paycheck to paycheck and yet sleeping alone and lonely.

And on my second call center company, that's where I would meet my wife. After getting married and settling down in the province, I got hired as a transcriber and is now working from home.

And this is where my happiness lies, this is where my satisfaction is overflowing.

I get to be with them everyday, I watch my daughter every night while she sleeps, playing with her during the day,
you know, it's something that is hard to explain,

it's like after all the journey you finally reached your destination, you found your sense of purpose, your purpose of being alive, God I wish I could explain it better.

In other words, the happiness and satisfaction that I was longing for was just simply given to me by them.

And then another blessing came called Steemit, it's like I'm semi-retired, working from home, writing which is one of my passions and being with a fun community at the same time.

Strengths

This one is kind of hard for me because I don't really consider myself a very talented person.

I guess one of my best strengths are:

I'm a good listener - I noticed that a lot of my friends and people who I interact with tend to say their problems to me so maybe I'm really a good listener. I don't talk much in person maybe that's why :-)

Hardworking - I'm the type of person who is always doing something especially now that I'm doing Steemit, the things that I do became more productive. I tend to focus more now on stories and lessons that I see like on TV or when playing games heck the only time I rest is when I sleep and in the bathroom. I always wash the dishes every night and do a bit of homesteading every weekend when I'm off.

Good memory - I don't really know the right term for this. I tend to remember a lot of things even though I've just learned or heard them the first time. Sometimes I even surprise myself that I remember such things even though some of them happened long long ago especially on games, books and movies.

Really good in video games - This one is something I know I'm very good at. Ever since little, I was already playing video games. Finished lots and lots of RPGs and playing competitive fighting games especially Tekken though I don't have much time right now to play Tekken because of the busy hours. I won 3rd place in my first tournament I joined, sadly nothing has come yet after that.

Weaknesses

This is kind of embarrassing but I'll say a lot of it anyway lol

Some these are:

Untalented person - I love to do a lot of things yet they don't love me. I'm not good in singing, always out of tune, I dance very stiffly like a tree, I've got the worst hand writing you'd ever see, in fact I've been the worst in our class ever since I started to write no kidding, my drawings are worst than a kindergarten, not good in sports etc.

Self centered - My wife often tells me this. I am good in listening to other people's problems but when it comes to me listening to them, I tend to shut my ears off of them even though sometimes I realized I'm at fault, I would still not listen but I know am the one to blame.

Insensitive - I think this one comes with being self centered. I usually don't feel the mood or aura of other people surrounding me. I do something that I want to do.

Dreams

All of us have dreams and it's our job to fulfill it no matter what. Your dreams should always be bigger than your excuses and fears.

And some of my dreams are:

Becoming a whale - This has been my number one priority right now ever since I joined Steemit. To become a whale and eventually help other Steemians fulfill their goals just like what other whales do.

Write a book - I prefer becoming an author of a non fiction book, something like a self help book that helps people grow and increase the value of their lives.

Be a professional gamer - Meaning that I do the thing I'm most passionate about which is gaming where in I can participate in tournaments without limitations like having to go to far away places without thinking about expenses and then streaming my games and fights on Youtube and Twitch.

My own business - My dream business is owning an arcade business like Tom's World or Quantum that you see in malls. I also want to have a computer shop where people can play not just PC games but console games too plus making my own tournaments.

I hope I didn't get you guys bored because of my long story but this is truly who I am and I just want to share some of the most memorable experience that I've had. Thank you, I appreciate your time given.

And you will see why I'm not really talented on this simple drawing lol but I'm still proud of it because it shows how unique I am even though it might be below standards to other :-)

Thank you very much :-)

Thanks for sharing. I can relate to you coz I also lost my mom 6 years ago. Really turning point when we realize that there's no one else that will look after us like our mother does. We sometimes stopped and think for the moment that we have to be more responsible than before.
I'm happy to know that you're also from Cavite. Wish we could get along sometimes.
