Epilogue

At the Warhammer HQ outside of Hong Kong, “God’s Gift” Jeremiah Vastrix looks at himself in a mirror as he adjusts his tie to his expensive business suit. His face is whole from ft grown skin grafts attached to top notch cybernetics. He smiles into the mirror, his artificial eyes gleam blue for a moment. Feminine hands reach around Jeremiah from behind to help finish tying the tie. Jeremiah turns around to see recovered girlfriend, Olivia Cooke. He smiles as he embraces her. She had flown to China as soon as it was discovered that Jeremiah had escaped North Korea with the other survivors of UOW.

OLIVIA COOKE: I’m glad that you survived and they were able to repair you.

Jeremiah chuckles. They were against repairing him at first, but being that Jeremiah has become the new CEO and Chairman of the Board of the entire company. They didn’t have much of a choice.

JEREMIAH VASTRIX: I’m just glad that you’re alright. I’m grateful for Johnny Melange for being by your side while you recovered from the poison.

Jeremiah brings Olivia’s face close for a kiss. Their lips almost touch when there is a knock at the door and enters Monica Vastrix, mother of Jeremiah Vastrix.

She smiles at the sight of Jeremiah Vastrix and Olivia Cooke together. She had encouraged Jeremiah to play the part of the playboy as a protection from his father’s paranoid tendencies, but was always hoping that her son would settle down with just one woman that would keep her son focused on the tasks at hand. Now with Michael dead...it was time to shed the facade. If the facade could indeed be shed.

Monica walks across the room, hugging Olivia and Jeremiah each in turn. She gives Jeremiah a quick once over, adjusting his tie with a wink at Olivia.

MONICA VASTRIX: The last of the board members have arrived and they have assembled in the meeting room. Are you ready for this? We could put them off for a time.

Jeremiah smiles sadly. His father wanted him dead, but he was sick and it wasn’t really his fault. Was it? Was he really ready to step into his father’s footsteps?

JEREMIAH VASTRIX: We’ve put them off long enough while I was being rebuilt. Any more waiting and they’ll sense weakness in me. I would hate to have that happen.

MONICA VASTRIX: Michael’s plans have come to fruition. Are you going to continue with them or change them in a dramatic way?

Jeremiah sighs dramatically while placing a hand on Monica’s shoulder.

JEREMIAH VASTRIX: The time for you to worry about corporate policy has come to an end, mother. What happens next, happens because it must. The United States has to deal with the internal tragedy that we helped the North Koreans make. We will take up the slack in policing the world for them. I think this is what father was going for all along. World domination is at hand. I think we should be a client for peace at the direction of the United Nations.

Monica laughs lightly. Jeremiah isn’t really that naive?

MONICA VASTRIX: You’ll make enemies of almost everyone in the board going that route. You know most of them feel like we should have control of the United Nations.

JEREMIAH VASTRIX: The Board has to listen to me, but I won’t make that big of a wave quite yet. I’ll ease into it, starting with helping North Korea and the United States recover from the brief war. They will owe us big time for the aid given.

Jeremiah straightens his top one more time and hugs both Olivia and Monica in turn.

JEREMIAH VASTRIX: I’m ready to see them now. Wish me luck!

Jeremiah exits the room and begins walking down hallways toward the meeting room. A side door opens and Allen Anderson enters the hallway with a grin.

ALLEN ANDERSON: You’re looking well, Jeremiah.

JEREMIAH VASTRIX: You should tell me why I shouldn’t have you shot for enacting my father’s insane plans. For what you did to Valora…

ALLEN ANDERSON: I did what I had to do. I’m certain that if she could have done the same to me or worse, she would have. If we meet again, she may yet do so.

Jeremiah nods for he knows it to be true. They get to the door to the meeting room where Anderson nods to Vastrix, for as highly ranked as he is...he’s not on the Board.

ALLEN ANDERSON: Good luck. The Board hasn’t met up for years. I’m sure that they still hate one another with a passion.

Jeremiah places a hand on the door knob with a smile.

JEREMIAH VASTRIX: I’m sure they will hate me more than they hate each other.
