the Nikon was my second choice.
but I liked this Canon more for the bundle and price.
What do you like about the Nikon more.
I am still open to suggestions for a good "starter" camera, if the price and options are comparable.

Well the best idea would be to go to your local electronics store and try out both of them. If you will be using the camera a lot, you need to feel comfortable with the handling / UI. I guess if you just try out both and take the one that "feels" more intuitive you will be quite happy in the future. Both brands have incredible cameras anyway and the price will be roughly even.

Thanks, that is totally the right answer, however, I do not have that option available to me, (a real life side by side camera comparison). I live kind of "Isolated" and I have to go by reviews and return policies on many things I buy. also, I will be using the camera on a tripod most of the time for stills and long exposures, so for a camera like this, handling(feel) is not a big concern of mine. Durability, and battery life, etc... are the kinds of things I have been researching and that's why I was leaning towards the Canon for my first choice.
