I thought this very first post would be about the plant-based pavlova sitting in the oven cooling, or how steemit is somehow an extension of Michael Tellingers' Ubuntu movement (Unity in Community).
But you know what?
After numerous attempts at first just signing in, and then getting profile and cover photos up, I'm keeping the focus really narrow.
Updating your settings to get your photos up is much easier than seems. I had guidance from @ilyastarar, and @jasonplant and was ultimately led to postimg.org to upload my photos.
The site is super straight forward.
Though there's numerous options to copy the URL once you've downloaded from your computer, as per the attached photo, the second option (direct link) worked for me (as opposed to the first option "link").
If not the first time, it'll work out eventually. And if I may suggest, focus on what you're doing- be present, as opposed to multi-tasking 12 other things, and it'll work out much faster. ;)

On a side note, being a 70's child - and way more old-fashioned than even that-, I quite welcome that this whole thing isn't (yet) instantaneous.
That one's got to rummage around, do a little bit of background reading, (more so than when creating an account on youtube or facebook, for example), is nice for a change. Not to mention, the support of other newbies.
Hey, that works out quite well to "Unity in Community," wouldn't you say? ;)
Have an extraordinary day,
