Upvoting For Unlimited Potential Rewards

Upvoting is a time-tested tradition in a meritocracy gone haywire. However many thumbs down and boos given the practice, it seems as if everyone has tried it at least once. Haven't you?

If you don't have enough respect and belief in your own post to upvote it, aren't you showing a lack of confidence in your subject, your ability to write or share information, or your online presence? On the other hand, if you don't upvote yourself because you have an innate sense of fair play, then you leave yourself open to possible disappointment when no one else even notices your post(s).

Other forums and platforms have faced the same issue.

SteemIt is not the first to be plagued by this self-serving notion. And we won't be the last. And it will continue to be an issue until someone figures out a way to make it non-profitable. Perhaps then, we will truly be a meritocracy. And I can freely vote for great articles while you give my (deservedly so) paltry offerings a giant thumbs-down.

Call me a dreamer.
