Introducing The Boost Button, The Only Real Alternative to Paying for Votes.steemCreated with Sketch.

You either love them or hate them, these bots that give minnows the only hope for ever seeing their posts get more than a few cents, the only way for anyone to give their post that little extra boost is to call upon rando and his many new competitors, pay the ransom and you shall receive a dirty upvote.

Is there any other way, do we really have no other option than to pay the rich man to then get a few crumbs thrown in our direction?
I suggested in my last post about the promoted button and how if you now promote your post you get a upvote from @promoted, although this is a great alternative I myself do not see this catching on as the returns are not great.

Introducing the boost button, this can be used as a way to boost your post with whatever amount you please, the full amount in SBD goes directly to the post, not only you personally, but anyone can boost any post they wish as a way of supporting fellow steemians, this has to be the only real alternative to pay for vote bots.

OK so i'm not a developer and I have not yet made this button a reality, I'm just a thinker but surely someone out there knows how to make this happen, let me know what you think in the comments, I'm not preaching it's just a suggestion.

Peace and love to the World.

I like it. I totally like it.

But where does the boost come from? Someone has to pay for it. I don't really see the logic behind it. It's an idea with no concept behind it.

Instead of paying randowhale you just pay yourself or someone else's post you wish to boost. Where did the vote on your comment come from? Yourself. The Boost Button I see more as a way of people boosting others posts

But that's exactly what I do when I upvote someone else. There must be some other value or it is just a second upvote button. Sorry if I don't get it, but it sounded interesting at first.

If your upvote is worth nothing, but you want to support a post you really like by a person you think really needs some extra help then this is a way of doing it, a lot of people use pay for vote bots to boost there posts or someone else's post, this I believe would give people another option instead of paying for a vote which has become very popular, yes the boost sound silly when you think about but paying for a vote is ludicrous but thousands do it everyday, including me until a week ago when I realized how stupid it was. B)
You could say it's a second upvote button, but this one costs you in SBD to the amount you want to send to that post. It makes sense in my head, but that's not saying much :)

Ok now we are getting somewhere! That makes more sense. If you tell it next time, include that you want to boost with SBD, or have I overseen it somewhere on the way? Then I am sorry.
Now I think that would be a good idea indeed! Try to follow up on that and good luck, I hope you make it ;)

Paying for votes is cheating. Period!

I totally agree, but they are not going away till we come up with a genuine alternative.
thanks for the feeback

You can also propose posts here for example: https://steemit.com/curation/@jerrybanfield/upvotable-7-busy-org-eating-vegan-and-poetry

I think it's a little bit more genuine.

Yeah for some strange reason I think this will benefit Jerry a lot, and a few crumbs for us minnows. And it's funny how the same week Jerry was featured in @steempearls he magical came up with this idea, which in my eyes is a @steempearls rip off. It's just my opinion and I might be completely wrong as I sometimes are.
Thanks for the interaction

The thing I see about Jerry is he is a new user himself who believes in the platform so much he puts his money where his mouth is. He bought about 30k of steem power right away and is actively buying more. He seems, to me at least, to be attempting to do things that benefits Steemit as a whole. Does that benefit him? Sure, but it's in his interest for what he does to benefit others too. Just my 2

Don't get me wrong I like Jerry, and I have done exactly the same, OK I'm not as rich as him but I have definitely put my money where my mouth is, all the money I can spare I have invested in this platform, but one thing I would never do is to take someone else's idea that they have really been working hard on, change it slightly and then not give any credit to that person, that made me see him in a different light.
I have no proof, maybe he had this idea all along, but it's a bit of coincidence that a few days after he was featured in @steempearls he comes up with a slightly different version of steempearls.
Before that I thought the sun shined out of his backside but now I'm just a little bit wary of him, still like him though, he has taught me loads about crypto's and steemit, and I do think he is great for the platform.
Thanks for the feedback

i see what you're saying, different observations

Of course it's beneficial for him most of all, but for me that's OK. At least these posts list some really good content. Also I actually didn't know @steempearls. So, although Jerry's posts might be a rip off, I think there's definitely room for more than one. And the results are more than a few crumbs if you ask me. In most cases it's more than a bought upvote from a whale and it can lead to some new followers because the upvotes you get are mostly genuine upvotes from people who like the content. I don't know... this is also just my opinion... I feel better about these promotional posts than simply buying an upvote.

Yeah your probably right, maybe I was a bit harsh, I haven't really looked into it enough to have an opinion if I'm honest. B)

I like the idea of a boost button where the reward stays in the post. I have never used randow or similar because it seemed silly to put into it just about as much as the post would likely make anyway.

The one time I put 2 SBD into promoted it flopped. I liked the idea of promoted because the reward goes back into the pool. But hate to think how much you have to spend to show up on the feed. The win win isn't there for lower denominations. The boost button sounds like the best alternative to all of this.

Yes I agree, after a week using the promotion button I feel it's never going to catch on.
The other I payed 10SBD for a post and got less than $4 and I could not find my post in the promted tag :(
But I believe a Boost button or something similar could work, after all that's all people want is a little boost for their post, and at least this way no one profits from it.
Thanks for the feedback @creativesoul

it can be developed and applied

Yeah great. That gives me hope :)

Yes!!! This would be sooo rad.

I'm learning slowly that this is just a game and sooner than later, I would have to learn how to play it.
