My Urban Homesteading - Part 2 : Back To Harvesting My Container Veggies

Happy Saturday everyone!

I have been harvesting more tomatoes and cukes as well as the aubergine that have grown big over the last days. The harvest isn´t pretty bad but it gives me the feeling that I am worthy to do some container gardening and that somehow I have greenthumbs, ha ha ha! Seriously, I probably have to plant more nest season in containers like the lettuces in batches to be able to sustain the whole summer with salad greens.

Remember the 3 cukes in pots which are now located in the garden downstairs? The slugs didn´t even try to climb up on the pots...that´s because the vine of the cukes have those small spikes (whatever they call those) and they just won´t dare to come up and eat the leaves since it might kill them. So at least, one problem is solved, which means that I can grown more cukes next season in the garden downstairs without having to think of preventive measures.

Additionally, I also harvested aubergines, it was time since I think they won´t grow anymore to become bulgy like those italian aubergines. At any rate, I will cook them with tomatoes and roast them in the oven.

I think in the next 2 weeks, I should have harvested all the beefsteak tomatoes by then. The green bell peppers are now beginning to get red, so I will let them be and wait til they become so. The other bell peppers which you see on the first photo have been forced to be harvested because they got sun burns from the heat wave that is spreading across the city.

Next time, I´ll come back with more harvested cukes , bell peppers, cherry tomatoes, beefsteak tomatoes, aubergines and strawberries.
