"The Wendigo" by Algernon Blackwood and Humanity's Role in Myth

Excellent post my friend. I've read Blackwood's story many years ago, but it was one of those stories that crawls into your memory and haunts it! The fear of the unknown and the cold dark night, things lurking beyond the doorstep of your home. One of the movies that, in my opinion, capture the essence of the Wendigo is The Last Winter, you should check it out. Also, Ithaqua is a very strong depiction of the Wendigo in the Cthulhu Mythos, introduced by August Derleth.

Thanks for reminding me of this icy horror!

Thank you! Those are actually next on my list, was during some urban legend research for a writing project and the vague, crawling horror that the Wendigo tales inspire is exactly what I needed.
