CNN says "A free press must be able to report on the good, the bad, the momentous and the mundane, without fear or favor. And a president preventing a free and independent press from covering the workings of our republic would be an unconscionable assault on the First Amendment."
I say “The people’s right to bear arms is inalienable whether the Government is good, bad, momentous or mundane, and is dictated that such right cannot be infringed. And any person suggesting infringement of a free and independent people from bearing arms in this republic would be an unconscionable assault on the Second Amendment and an act of sedition.”
What is the difference between the two statements? Nothing!n, In fact, it seems that CNN actually took something that the PRO gun people have been saying all along.
When the Constitution was written, the people creating the document had just fought a bloody revolution over a tyrannical government that did not allow them to assemble. They were not allowed to print or disseminate thoughts and ideas without approval from that Government. You could make the point that the reason the right of a free press and the right to assemble is the First Article of the Constitutiontion was because they knew people that were inprisoned and worse for not being politically correct. By the way, when you hear someone arguing about free speech say; "Well you can't yell FIRE in a Theater" They miss the whole point. The Constitution limits the power of GOVERNMENT, not Thearter owners. The First Amendment stops the Government from censoring the press.
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
Amendment number two says: A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
The "Shot Heard Round the World" that we have all heard about was the first real fire fight of the Revolution. It occurred at Concord and Lexington when the people stood up to the well regulated "army" of the King because they were marching to seize the arms of the Militia of Concord and Lexington. The writers made this Amendment number two to make sure that could never happen again.
By now some of you are boiling over becasue this is not what you were tought.
Now let me ask you something.
What does the Third Amendment say?
The early Americans while subjects of the King of England were forced to "quarter" troops in their homes. They had to feed them, wash their clothes, provide them shelter etc. without compensation. Whether they could afford it or not, they had to do it. That is why this: No Soldier shall, in time of peace be quartered in any house, without the consent of the Owner, nor in time of war, but in a manner to be prescribed by law.
Is Amendment number three.
So based on the injustices experienced by the colonists that caused them to revolt, the new Government they were now defining was based in order of importance in what we today call the Bill of Rights.
Amendment 4 - Search and Seizure
Amendment 5 - Rights of Persons
Amendment 6 - Rights of Accused in Criminal Prosecutions
Amendment 7 - Civil Trials
Amendment 8 - Further Guarantees in Criminal Cases
Amendment 9 - Unenumerated Rights
Amendment 10 - Reserved Powers
