Midterms coming up so of course mandates are conveniently ending

I believed a long time ago that the reaction to Covid in the United States was largely a political operation and didn't really have that much to do with the virus itself. Personally, I and most of the members of my community were never worried about it and refused to comply with regulations in our county to the point where our local leaders agreed that they would not enforce any of the rules that were passed down by the state and federal government. It worked and we have had similar results as far as death and hospitalizations are concerned in relation to the rest of the state and the country - even places that had really hardcore lockdowns and regulations like California and New York City.

I think that at the start of all of this, the over-reaction was used as a tool to further attempt to smear Trump and anyone associated with him and then later, it was used as a "right vs left" talking point where people would be very selective with their statistics when trying to make their political opponents look bad.

Once this became political, there was never going to be any real movement to stop Covid but only to try to gain political points in the polls. Well lo' and behold after 2 years of lockdowns, mask mandates, social distancing requirements, not being able to attend funerals and weddings, and other such nonsense we are starting to see all of these mandates disappear in 2022. I am sure it is just a coincidence that lockdowns and mask mandates etc are largely a thing that was perpetuated by Democrats and they are scrambling because all polls suggest that they are going to lose badly in this year's mid-term elections.

While I hope that people are smart enough to see through this obvious bullshit, there is a great movement in the media to attempt to portray this relaxing or elimination of restrictions as some sort of amazing coincidence that is backed up by science, when in reality it has everything to do with a last-ditch effort to win over disgruntled voters who are sick and tired of being repressed.

Even liberal-leaning pollsters are finding that there is going to be a massive "red wave" coming in November and this is the only reason why the Democrats are doing their best right not to try to make it appear as though they were never responsible for all of this to begin with and I would imagine it is only a matter of time before they attempt to point blame at their conservative counterparts.

I don't think that this plan of their is going to work, no matter how much they try to spin it. The media doesn't have the control over the masses that they used to and most people are simply tuning out when it comes to major media outlets and just presume they are lying to them. It is pretty remarkable how the political sides work together in these mass lies though since we have everyone from the President down to local city council members from the (D) side attempting to explain that this was "always the plan" even though I think someone with an IQ above room temperature can easily see that this is a political move and nothing more.

Personally, I would like to see every single politician replaced with someone new and it doesn't matter to me if they are Republican or Democrat. If they were in charge in any capacity during the pandemic and didn't handle it the way my community leaders did - which was to completely defy all regulations, officially - they need to go.

If they were in any way responsible for the hell that the country and the world has been put through for the past 2 years they are guilty... I do not care what party they are part of. A great reset is indeed needed, one where we get rid of the old guard and establish a new one.

There is an old statement that goes "if it isn't broken, don't fix it." Well folks, politics in the United States is well beyond broken and it is time to not trust any of the talking heads anymore. Vote in the primaries and not for the incumbent. I think if we were to replace our leaders with literally anyone else, great things could happen. While I would be pleased to see a conservative takeover of Congress come November, I think it is just a band-aid on a gaping wound. They are only marginally better than their Democrat counterparts.

Oh the joys of political science...

Somewhat related: the American Heart Association is quietly accepting low-carb diets. Wait for them to gaslight us 10 years from now that they,ve always accepted it

lol, oh for sure. I remember the food pyramid back in grade school where they basically told us to eat shitloads of pasta and bread every day for an "ideal diet" and that proteins and fats should be avoided. Then later on a bunch of people started experiencing huge success in health by doing precisely the opposite.

and since the experiment started...

I wonder if there is a graph we could overlay about the increase in sales of heart condition medicine and insulin that conveniently match up with this as well.

Politicians saw their approval ratings and immediately began pack pedaling on their support for mandates.

They always do this. The frustrating thing is that they likely knew about the unpopularity and uselessness of them for a long time but waited until it was politically advantageous to do anything about it. They are a bunch of frauds.
