Na. I disagree.

The algorithm of social media is designed to amplify interests and not necessarily birth them. The point being, if you prefer to spend your time following the lives of people you find interesting whilst comparing your life with theirs in non-motivational but depressing lights, you're bound to feel less than. Given that human beings love to blame anyone but themselves for the things they expose themselves to, it is easy for you to look at a celebrity's lifestyle and hate social media for showing you what you want to see.

This is why you have parents and guardians complaining about celebrities who are "Corrupting" their kids, but not themselves for poor parental advisory guidance.

This same sickness plagued me until a friend said:
"...Let's say a celebrity posts his/her $10M watch on Instagram to show it off. While one person would look at it as bragging and despise said celebrity, another will find motivation in the knowledge that there's so much to be done, and so much can be attained if it's done properly.."

you're following gossip blogs. you receive gossip content. you follow business pages. you receive business content.

Garbage in, garbage out.

My Instagram Explore page is filled with music videos, track stats, graphic design, and big booty women, because yes, those are the things I find interest in.

Also, on the amplification to the unwanted. posting or sharing something you don't agree with to make people know you don't agree with it is a backhanded action in that you're actually giving audience to what you don't like. If we all simply ignored contents we do not find interest in, they'd simply fall off the algorithm.

I mean look at what happens to the businesses of your friends you don't support.

The problem is, everyone is on the edge of their seats and ironically bored at the same time. They're waiting for something to happen, that small spark of excitement to which they want to be the first to tell it to the rest. That's why it's so easy to take posts/jokes out of context.

Man. I'll continue later.
