If Jake Paul agrees to lose weight to match his present weight, Floyd Mayweather has declared that he will fight Paul in a professional fight.
After beating MMA champion Conor McGregor to bring his unbeaten streak to 50 fights in 2017, Mayweather announced his retirement from professional boxing. Since then, he has competed in exhibition fights, most notably winning over Mikuru Asakura in Japan.
Paul, meanwhile, will make his ring comeback in a high-profile fight with UFC superstar Anderson Silva next month after taking a break after his victory over Tyron Woodley in December 2021
Mayweather has criticized the caliber of Paul's opponents and stated that he would risk maintaining his perfect record to take on the internet phenomenon in a competitive fight.
Mayweather said for TMZ Sports: 'I think he [Jake Paul] was doing a sit-down on a podcast one time. He talked about it and he said, "I don't want to do an exhibition against Floyd Mayweather."
'He [Paul] said, "I'm only doing real fights." And of course, I can't get high up in weight, but I'll fight him in a real fight at the weight that I'm at.'
Jake Paul's response to Mayweather
In response to Mayweather's remarks, Paul declared that he will defeat the legendary boxer in just six rounds. He wrote on Twitter, " My brother took you the distance. I would finish you in 6."
"@StephenEspinoza please make this fight happen so I can send him into proper retirement," Paul continued.
Logan, the brother of Paul, had faced Mayweather in a previous exhibition match. The YouTuber and the former world champion in five different divisions engaged in a lengthy brawl.
Paul was said to have won the opening two rounds of their exhibition match by several boxing analysts, experts, and previous competitors. By the time the battle was over, Mayweather had hit 43 of his 107 blows while Logan had connected on just 28 of his 217.
