The chairman of the Finance Committee of the US House of Representatives, Maxine Waters, on Wednesday revealed the list of participants in the scheduled hearings, at which the heads of the largest American crypto companies will speak.
The session on "Digital Assets and the Future of Finance: Understanding the Challenges and Benefits of Financial Innovation in the United States" will be held on December 8. Circle CEO Jeremy Aller, FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried, Bitfury CEO Brian Brooks, Paxos CEO Charles Cascarilla, Stellar Development Foundation CEO Denel Dixon, and Coinbase CFO Alecia Haas will help legislators figure out this issue.
The text of the prepared speeches has not been published to date.
The Finance Committee paid special attention to the issue of cryptocurrencies, and this year Waters gathered a specialized working group of members of the Democratic Party to discuss regulatory issues.
Also today, the chairman of the US Securities and Exchange Commission, Gary Gensler, spoke on the topic of cryptocurrencies.
"Many projects attract money in the cryptocurrency market and turn to lawyers with the question of how they can circumvent regulation. I don't think this is the right approach. It's more like the Wild West. Today, the public is not protected as it could and as it should be," Gensler said.
